Thanks George, that's very helpful.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that the ballasts in any 35W HID kit are going to be compatible with the ignitors (or whatever they're called) that are tucked away behind the headlamp units themselves? Putting new connectors on the wiring that plugs into the ballasts is no big deal to me -- I'd just rather not have to replace the entire setup.

I would replace the ignitor with the one that comes with the new ballast.

Just a heads-up: I found a new ballast from a place in Indiana called EuroDezigns for $40, installed it, and all is good now.
