Part# requested: Rubber part next to fan housing

Default Part# requested: Rubber part next to fan housing

Hi,

the rubber piece that connects the fan housing to the intake trumpet (see photo) is ripped and needs to be replaced.



I looked at the parts catalogue but I am not sure what part# this rubber piece has. I have attached a photo. Can someone provide me the part number? How difficult is it to replace this part?

This is a very common problem. You simply need to replace this small boot section.

Just replaced mine thru pelican



964-106-403-02-M100 Air duct
Brand: Genuine Porsche M64.05/06 1 $48.00

993-106-403-00-M100 Air duct
Brand: Genuine Porsche M64.21/22 1 $44.25


I believe on my 95 it was the second one



as a side note, what causes this? Mine was ripped in exactly the same spot

thanks for the information. I have now clue why it brakes at this spot. Maybe the heat ...

I found the parts in the catalogue and it should be the other way around:

For the 95 model (M64.07/08): 964-106-403-02
For the 96 model (M64.23/24): 993-106-403-00

Just as an FYI, on my 95 the part that was sent the first time did not fit. Evidently, on early built 95s, the part number was different. You might want to remove the broken one and check the part number if you have an early build 95.

yes, mine is an early 95. I was able to tell just by looking at the part images which was the correct one.

From what I have seen the difference in the 95 models happened with the "fresh air in reverse" update. If your car has no fresh air intake (square screen) on the heater blower you need the 964 part #964-106-403-02. If you have the back-up fresh air intake you need the 993 part #993-106-403-00.

1st pic is a early 95 without the reverse update, second pic is from pcar workshop showing an engine with the screen (upper left corner square grid).

This update happened sometime during production in 1995, not sure when. Your car looks like a Varioram car so it is the 993 # BTW I like how you spell your name Erik, from another Erik.

You guys are going to love this. Mine had a nice rectangular hole in it very similar to Mongrelcat's photo above. I fixed it with Duct Tape.

The tape is still on the car. This area (where the rubber is attached to the heater schroud does not get hot so the duct tape will hold virtually forever. Even if it leaks a bit around the edge, no harm no foul.

There are only 2 different parts
the 964 part was used for 964 and all n/a, non vram 993
the 993 part was used on all vram 993

Bill, I am planning to replace my heater assembly with the RS bypass (on my 1997). I believe I need the 964 part, right?

right, the RS was the one exception to the vram use of the 993 part
