Default Sport seats

Did a search, no info.
Where does one look for hard back sport seats? I can't seem to find anyone advertising them. How much are they? Which model years will fit 993?
I'm not going to buy them today, but would like to start shopping...

The real 993 ones are very rare and expensive--at least $2k in black, more like $3k in cashmere.

The 996 ones are common and much cheaper--$1200-1800 depending on condition.

Purchased my black 993 sport seats for $2,500. You can look at places like LA Dismantlers, but be prepared to pay upwards of $4K-$4,500.

I am not sure if these seats are still in good shape or sold yet but you might send off a PM. Most likely you would have to have them or any that you find recovered and repaint the backs to match your car if they came from a car with the backs color matched.

The roll over seats were sold, I think everything went as one package. It's best to find a car with sports seats already installed. The price for them seperatly is much higher than the cost of a car with the seats.

Must admit I know nothing about hard back sport seats. Are they better than the regular sport seats?

I paid close to $4K for mine...they're tough to come by...especially in a color other than black.

Great seats (in my opinion) if you are looking for a pure stock look...if you are ok with deviating from stock, there are a ton of threads on this forum with great looking seats that bolt right in that will give you even more support than the sport seats.

CP-all of the sport seats in the 96-98 993's are hard back. The 95's had fabric covered backs on the sport seats.
I remember looking at a '95 with sport seats and recall that they seemed to fit me better than the ones in the car I finally bought (a 1996). Of course, that could be a 'false' memory (or because I got fatter by the time I bought my car).

My late 95 build SY 993 had factory installed hardbacked sport seats. I think it was just the early build 95's that got them. IIRC, they (cloth iterations) are the same seats that were used in the 964 RSA.

For what it's worth, my '95's hard back seats are silver with midnight blue leather.

I looked for over a year and found these 1995, all leather sport seats out of a car with only 12 k miles, they are similiar to those from the 964 but different bottom, i think they are the best sport seat that porsche offered for the 993, hold better than hard backs

Jim - those look like non-sport 993 seats with more aggressive bolstering? Interesting.

If anyone finds a pair of hard backed marble gray sport seats, I'll take them. Been looking a long long time.

... and if anyone has blue hardbacks (for a '97), I'll take 'em.

I'm pretty sure that Autos International or somebody offers factory equivalent leather covers (7" Bolster") and foam to allow you to essentially "build your own" sport seats, but not in hardback, for what that's worth...
