I vote for the impartial PPI. Why risk it. Hell for the cost of the PPI bring it to the Po's shop and also the other one suggested. Well worth the extra few hunge given the sale price.

As long as everything checks out, I would get it. if anything goes wrong, you can still make a 2K repair and be at or below market value.

I sure hope you're listening to Mark in Baltimore. Take it to an impartial shop. This isn't paranoia; shops *do* lie in this situation.

Did I miss mention of the year? If it's a 95 its not a smoking deal, but still a very good deal. On the east coast I see them pop up from time to time at that price. If it's a 96-98 then its smoking.

California cars usually come with a premium I think. And deal is over, the idiot who was supposed to buy my Carrera backed out because he claimed "it would cost too much to put the heater blower back in the engine bay". Yea 100 bucks is pretty damn steep I cant imagine why someone who loved a car would back out after it got rave reviews at a PPI but hey, what do I know, I'm just a sane person haha.

dealer hell!
bought my 97C2 CAB after sonnen ppi, and before i knew anything, or heard of Rennlist. As Ben Franklin is alleged to have said " if you think education is expensive, try ignorance"
The shop , they did little, i knew little to ask. top problems[22k] transmissson bolts on cab top off, prob prev accident to l front[ found overspray later when i first washed it] lots oflittle stuff. My advice is as you have heard.
good indy in Vallejo, Ex Porsche dealer wrench B4 the Navy left, but thats a piece.
Purchase an independent evaluation.
all the best in any case!

go with RMG---Real Mean Garage or Robert M Grigsby Enterprises. 408-738-2060 www.realmeangarage.com. (no affiliationg, kickback, free lunch etc) I have trusted him for 25 yrs. Nothing would get past him and I would feel 100% comfortable that I was getting a good car. He turned down two cars recently that I was interested in. I live in Bend OR and he is in Sunnyvale CA. Go figure. I looked as you did on CL in the SFBA cause I knew I would have a great car if he gave it the go ahead.

Maybe you should have offered to fix it yourself? Spending $100 to get $21k is not too bad...
