Default air boxes

am contemplating a fabspeed hi-performance air intake box with the K&N filter; is there a noticable increase in power as they claim and how the engine sound different?

i just installed their maxflow setup with the oval tips

Do not buy a K&N. Purchase the BMC filter.
I have the fabspeed setup with the BMC. It sounds fantastic above 3k.
I might be worth a few more ponies. Certainly nothing you can feel.

Good Luck

Click on the "search" function. I can summarize, though- OEM filter is the best (fit and function), K&N is the worst and, if you have $85 burning a hole in your pocket, you can buy the Motorsound intake cover to increase intake sound or simply drill your existing cover because most of the aftremarket covers don't fit well.

I bought an oem airox lid on ebay for $10 and drilled out about 60 8mm holes more or less copying the MS design. Sounds fantstic if you're giving it full throttle , and a snip compared to the MS list price.
I didn't drill my original lid in case I didn't like the result , but I can't see myself putting the original back on any time soon..

I found a used airbox and cut it myself. I didn't cut holes, I cut the whole center out so basiclly all it does is hold the filter in place. I saved alot of money!!! It sounds GREAT!! It is quite with normal driving but when you get on it it reminds me of those old 4 barrel carbs when the second set of carbs open...... SWEET!!!!

Drilled my stock box to bits.
Not a whole lot louder unless you romp on it.
Definately gives a little bit of power, and worked a little better with the k&N added.
But were talkin small hp gains at best-if not just responsiveness.

Also- Im considering the round cone type as well possibly.
Someone here had some info about the shape focusing the flow and hence having better results.
All that stuff is quite minute for power though .....really.
