Mileage from a 993

You guys with your 25+mpg figures are cracking me up! What is that, instantaneous mpg on the on-board computer? I have been tracking my fuel mileage since I got the car over 2 years ago, and I average 16mpg with very little sustained freeway usage. When I do see more freeway on a particular tank of gas, I'll get as high as 20 mpg or so. Less freeway, or if I get stuck in a couple traffic jams, it can be under 14mpg. FWIW, I drive with enthusiasm as much as possible.

28 mpg routinely on the highway if I'm being a law abiding citizen. Lop off 10% mileage with that ****ty stuff called 10% ethanol. Thats without a catalytic converter (it runs a bit rich without one) with one I used to get 1-2 mpg better.

When I first got my 993, I got 22.2 mpg averaging approximately 100mph on the highway. Not too shabby.
I also got 18 mpg with an approximate 120 mph avg with one 160 mph blast and many 130-140 mph runs at full acceleration.

In the 993TT, I get 14-16 mpg mixed driving and 22-24 mpg on long distance trips if I take it easy. It is hard not to drive with a heavy foot...too much fun running up to the redline.

Wow, 28mpg on the highway? Using 6th?
I inaugurated my first full tank of gas and for ****s and giggles calculated my mileage.
18.1 mpg in mixed street and freeway, never once going into 6th, and trying to keep rpm above 3000.
I *really* enjoyed the engine sounds.

I'm an **** retentive engineer, so I've got a spreadsheet for my gas mileage.... It covers the last year and "Total Miles of FUN: 7,370".
I'm averaging 16mpg. This is mainly commuting to work several days a week (~15 miles one-way, 2/3 freeway, generally off-peak hours so I'm not just sitting in traffic, but doing speeds that Johnny Law might not be happy with.)) and I've got a HEAVY right foot. Regular trips to 5k+rpm are good for her! For the occasional longer trip 2-4 hours, not the all day type, I see about 22 mpg, so I believe those who are getting -->25mph on cross country type road trips.

Yeah, I get between 13 - 16 in the city. I can't stay off the throttle enough to stretch to 18-20 in the city, it just won't go that slow in the city for me! :-)

Maybe its a west coast or targa thing, but I can get only 13-15 in mostly in-town driving. I've never been able to get mileage of other people, when I babysat a 993 TT many years ago, I only got 12 mpg on that one tank. Even with my 356's with their tiny 1600cc motors, I get around 16-18 in town.

I suppose you could get some fairly high mileage figures if driving on the freeways at 65mph in 6th gear....but, around here you would never know because you would be run down from behind. I used to get in the very low 20mpg range when driving my 993 in 6th gear at 80-85 mph on the two hour trip to the beach house.
