Default Mileage from a 993

I am wondering what type of mileage can be expected from a 993 /993 Turbo. I currently drive an 04 Corvette as my daily driver and I am contemplating a purchase of a 993/996 for a new daily driver.

The vette requires premium fuel and I driver around 90-100 miles a day. Can someone tell me what they average for mileage on these cars? I am trying to get a feel for the cost.

I am averaging 25 since most of my travel is on the highway (The Woodlands Texas to I-10 west & Highway 6 for those of you familiar with the Houston area).

While the mileage is not on the list of determining factors, it will help me decide what car to get (daily driver vs track/weekend driver). I plan on putting a supercharger on the vette and keeping it for a "fun" car.

Thanks

Chris

Scroll down for the window sticker . . . I find those numbers pretty accurate, well, except for the annual fuel cost

. . .Don' t know about a turbo though

993 C2 Tip normally can do 28 mpg with Mobil 1 5W50 and air cond on at steady 65 mph on highway.
Maybe slightly more mpg if Mobil 1 5W40.

Problem is you won't be able to keep steady 65 knowing it can do 165.

Thank you for the answers. I finaly figures out the "Search" function and I saw a post just earlier last month on the same subject

Unfortunately in the Houston traffic I can probably average 60, if the traffic is light.

Thanks again.

Cheers!

There was a similar thread recently on the Ferrari Chat (360/430 forum), The typical answer was "if you have to ask, you cant afford one!" Not very nice responses.
The 993 gets great fuel mileage for what it is, but if you are driving it to get good mileage over a long period of time, you are doing more harm than good. These cars want to be driven hard and drink up gas, but it is nice that you can pop it in 6th on the highway and get pretty good mileage.

I have light/moderate traffic going to work and recently have been taking a longer way home but no traffic. I am getting about 22MPG on my 70mile daily commute. And yes this commute is much easier driving a fun car that I can rev and once in a while floor it past everyone. =)

Since I have never paid attention or tried to figure it out, I would venture to guess around 17 in town, 22 on the highway. Give or take a few mpg if you are a conservative or spirited driver.

Thats just what I have seen people post and the mfg's estimates.

My daily driving was similar when I lived in Houston (I-10, Beltway 8,... including some stop & go) and one tank would last me roughly 320 miles in the 993, which equates to about 20 mpg (premium)

If you can't afford the fuel and maintenance, then you shouldn't buy a 10-12 year old Porsche. Even the simpliest things such as an oil change will cost you $200 or more at a shop.

I agree. I drive until it is empty and then I fill it back up. I am pleased to know that it can get around 18-20 in regular driving. Maintenance is no biggie. It cost to drive and properly maintain to standards and I understand that.

The reason that I ask is that with the traffic there is no good place to air it out and I was wondering what I could get while cruising along in traffic at 60-65 mph on the beltway.

Thanks for the answers.

I got 25.8 mpg on a 200 mile interstate trip not long after I bought the car; probably didn't go over 6K on entrance ramps more than a couple of times.

YMMV,

Just drove 600 miles at 75 to 80 and checked it once just for the heck of it and was amazed to see 28.9 mpg
