If Valentine would add GPS and make the band readable at night, it would be perfect. I think the GPS feature puts the the Escort on top as more and more places are using speed and light cameras.

Although the V1 is so highly rated and sensitive, it's antiquated design completely turns me off.
I typically keep to myself on statements that I disagree on, but only in the best interest of you and other readers I must state that your statement is 100% completely false.

Laser is actually Lidar or Light Detection and Ranging

LIDAR systems send out a stream of approximately 100 pulses over the span of three-tenths of a second.

It is absolutely impossible to brake in time. If you are hit by Lidar when your "non" antiquated detector goes off it is simply telling you that you are toast. Same with a V1. (Best detector on the market)

I spent a fair amount of time researching this topic before I purchased a V1 AND a Blinder M25.

The only protection against Lidar is to jam it which is legal in my state.

Spend some time at www.guysoflidar.com and/or www.radarbusters.com and/or www.radardetector.net.

The ultimate set-up if you like the GPS for advance warning of permanent traps (intersections, etc.) would be a V1, a jammer, and a Cheetah GPS mirror.

That's what mine is... front and rear... completely concealed w/ the laser diffuser in the front. It has directional indications too (like the arrows on the V1) so you can tell where the signal is coming from, but doesn't have a "bogey counter" feature.

V1 has saved me zillions of times. However they're all ineffective against Laser....been nailed in NY twice where they're looking for expensive cars with out of state plates to nail. You should figure out what kind of detection is being used where you drive...if it's laser skip the detector.

I've had the Passport 9500i for almost a year now. The GPS feature is invaluable and allows me to filter out false signals. I also really like the feature of a constant speed display while driving - it turns out my P-car speedo is 3 MPH slower than my actual speed. Highly recommended!
