For those who appreciate a really well detailed 993...
Back in September I hired a concours level detailer-- RickRack (Boston area, sometimes posts on the RL concours board)-- to do an extensive detail of my car, along the lines of what Mr. Sullivan did on his former C2S a few months back.
Mostly, I wanted to have the paint "corrected" (i.e. swirl marks and fine scratches removed), and I wanted to have the seat bolsters repaired, along with some rim rash on one wheel.
Rick did a first class job, which encompassed 6 days of work. Here is the write up he posted on Autopia which takes you through the 6 day process step-by-step (caution, there are many, many pictures): http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-det...ess-hours.html
Here's a link to my more abbreviated write up: https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...9&postcount=67
I thought my car looked pretty darn good going in, but you can see under the halogen lights (and in the bright sun) how extensive the swirl marks and fine scratches are (ahem...I mean "were"). These are hard to avoid, especially on a dark car-- 11 years of washing will do that-- and they really impact the finish and deepness of the paint when you compare the "before and after" shots. Now that they are gone, the paint looks to rich and deep, with a mirror shine.
If anyone in the Boston area is looking for professional level detailing I highly recommend Rick. His attention to detail is amazing, and his follow through is first class. In fact, Rick noticed that another car he worked on had developed a "hologram" as a result of a new product which he also used on my car. He had me meet him VERY early on a Sunday morning and he spend about 3 hours re-doing the front end of my car to be sure that it was perfect and free of any defects that the product might cause (all at no charge). Let me know if you want his contact info (BTW-- No affiliation).

Congrats, the car looks awesome. I'm envious. I used to think getting your car to look really, really nice just took a ton of time. Detail threads like these just further prove the point that it's almost an art form. Yes you need the time, but you also need the equipment and then know how to use it, ie....what pad to use, when and what product to use and in what order.

That is just sick and wrong. You should re-title this thead, "Can your detailer do this?" We could keep him busy here in LA for a month! (hmm...not a bad idea in New England winter) I don't think that car was delivered with the paint in a condition that good.
I'm going to ballpark this as a $1,000 detail, and I'll bet I'm low.
What was the product used on the seats? The results are phenomenal. I think Victory (forgive me) must spray something on as well, but I'll bet that yours will actually last!

Your car need a good detail! That's good work, but I don't understand why it took so long to polish out? I know the seat repair takes some time.
After it looks almost brand new! Money well spent, & it will much easier to keep it looking like that.
