Would pulling the dme relay and jumping between pin 30 and 37 (3 and 7 on CES) do the trick?
Although I should use a fused link when doing this, I generally dont. I think a paper clip would get hot, perhaps too hot to hold. Larger wire, 12gage-ish?

OK, I've no idea - suggested the battery as mine was cranking when my battery was run down. Brand new battery and all was sorted.

Technically speaking the car needs at least 400rpm to start, so perhaps it is cranking over at what appears to be normal speed but not enough to catch?

Thanks for yesterday's ideas, guys.

Chis, I'll push it back and get a good jump on it today in lieu of the charging batteries and report back.

Despite the battery being charged, and easily turning the starter over ..... pull the battery cables and clean the posts and clamps, especially the ground. The ground contact may not be adequate to allow the pump to run.
If you jumper the DME relay, it is +12v at #30 to both #87 & #87b

I have a similar problem with my car. It will fire right up if it has been sitting over 12 hours. However, if I try and start the car if its hot or warmish if just turns over for ten plus seconds then fires up. Once it does it smokes a little and smells like raw fuel. I was wondering if you guys have had a similar problem?

Thanks, Patrick

I think cylinder head temperature sensors can present these types of symptoms.

Good news, sorta. I was hoping it was something simpler. Good to know you are on the right track!
