Another 993 on the way out
Just wanted to drop a note here that I'm now selling my 993. I'm really wondering how much I'm going to see for it because I have yet to see anyone sell one in this market with as many miles as me - 178,000. It definitely isn't a garage queen and has been given plenty of road time over the last several years. So I think in the rennlist/enthusiast world I'm not going to push it here. I think it is going to be an ebay car shortly. But of course, if anyone is in the hunt for a well used 993 at a great price, I could be your man.
I really wanted to at least post here that I am - to some degree - on my way out. I have gotten a tremendous return on my "investment" with rennlist and a membership here has by far been the biggest bang for the buck item I have ever bought for my 993. In fact, I can guarantee you that I would not have been able to even afford owning one without rennlist. I have tried over the years to give something back and with the few diy's I've posted, I hope I've returned at least 1% of the value I have received. This board here is a great resource and a better group of people talking about the best car in the world. Thanks to you all.

Nice looking car. Too bad you're selling and I hope you get a decent price.
I just sold my '93 968 with 173k miles and it took three months. In the end I sold it for a little less than I wanted and had hoped to get. I can't complain because I, too, derived a lot of value and enjoyment from the car in my years driving it.
Best of luck to you in selling your 993 and in whatever you do or drive in the future.

178k... yeah, that is the factory break in period isn't it? I always had a notion of wanting to hit 200k. There are times when I worry about thinking to treat the old girl easy and wondering if it is getting tired, and then there are times when it just feels so damn nice. Usually the latter comes about the point when its under hard accelleration on an on ramp and the perma-grin starts creeping on the face.

Thanks everyone for the response.
As to the "why" portion of this... with 2 kids and me working more hours than I want to and putting a high emphasis on monetary controls these days, having my 993 is just something I don't get to enjoy as much as I would like to. My commute is 50 miles one way and the more I drive it to work it racks up miles way too fast and I spend too much time and money on things like oil changes and tires and washing and waxing. Oddly enough, I don't feel as bad letting my Yukon get filthy for a few weeks on end when I don't have time to wash it. Nor do I feel as bad in the automated car wash with the Yukon. And then when I don't drive it it just ends up being a rather significant investment (to me at least) sitting in the garage. So I've spent the last 6 months or so prioritizing my "hobbies" and by parting ways with the 993 it will free me up with a lot of time to do other things - mostly with the kids. So its all good.
Thanks again.

GL with the sale. You thank the forum for giving to you, and at the same time continue to give encouragement to guys like me that have over 100K on the clock. Class act all the way! Did you have to do the top end to rack up these numbers?

You have a great looking car, good luck with selling it. I'd assume that an educated/enthusiast buyer will not be totally put off by the odometer. It's not like you're trying to sell a Ford Explorer with those miles.
Keep us posted and hurry back into 993 ownership when it's prudent for you.
