Thumbs up From Carmel, CA's Concours on the Avenue, Aug 11

I just received this weblink from a new friend in Australia: the first motion shots (if 5 miles an hour counts).

The photogapher now uses one of them as his computer's desktop image.
Those that have PMed me for high-resolution shots should enjoy.

As I type, Speedy's featured on their homepage: madWhips.com.
Humbling & enthusiastic blog comments there at this moment, too.
The direct link: Porsche 993 Speedster at Carmel.

Lo-res versions:

Thanks for the links to the hi-res shots. New desktop!!!!!

We all come to this place to chat about, remedy, inform, and gawk at 993s in all of their variations. If I could own fifty 993s I MIGHT be able to satisfy my lust for these cars. Probably not though. With the many models, body configurations, colour combos etc. to choose from there will always be something different to motivate a new project.

Then there are the truly special cars. Like 9M's (Colin) 993RS/CS project from last year, Rob's "Blue Beast," and, of course, Speedy. Cars that take some of the best parts and ideas the factory had and either improved upon them or put them together in combinations not originally offered (at least not to common folk!). Cars that show their owners' vision and passion in the finished project.

Speedy is absolutely gorgeous in every way. No bad or awkward angles, nothing that makes me think "If only....", nothing out of place. Thanks for sharing her with us.

i agree a 1,000,000%. i was talking with bart last week discussing all the different models of 993 i'd love to have. i want a turbo, a gt2, an rs, etc, etc, etc. hell, i even love the look of a "standard" 993 sitting on 17" wheels. i just wish a had a bunch more money to buy/build all the cars i want.

Yep. Can't NOT look at every picture of it. It is so damn cool that I want to get rid of mine and start something different. There are many great looks on this site, byr the Speedster has got to be at the top of the list.

Javier-- Sic pic. I"m sure digital editing takes time; I really appreciate you putting the effort into that, & sharing it.

Big serious thanks for so many kind comments. You guys must have a sickness. Luckily, it sounds like there should be therapy on the way [see recent "New! 9m93 Speedster widebody - starts Monday" thread]. Plus, there are a few more enthusiasts' projects that haven't gone public yet.

Tim-- Regardless which thread you post to, your writing often has me admiring your insights.
Your timing's uncanny: the professional photographer who took the following photo recently e-mailed with very similar words:
"...very elegant and classy desktop image (my current choice).
I swear that car doesn't have a bad angle."

I recently took the following photo. It's the specific 993 Turbo S that was partially dissected & studied for installation of Speedy's OEM Turbo S rear inlets.

If you recognize where this collection is or who it belongs to, DO NOT post that. I got special permission to share, for enthusiasts' enjoyment of the cars, not for ID of the owner.

(Please don't make this disappear, like Smindustries' former 997 GT2/GT3 Forum photo thread, "I spent Saturday in awe."
His last edit before the thread vanished was, "Deleted at the request of the owner. Apparently, people couldn't resist calling him.")

Tim-- Excellent deduction!
Wouldn't have happened without help of friend (who happens to own 1 of the coolest 356 Outlaws ever - award-winner @ PCA Parade Concours, won its Dana Point Concours class, etc.).

Totally happy: another magazine made contact today for photo feature

I haven't been around much lately and missed this thread completely. Great story and fantastic car. My first 993 was a cab and I do miss it but your Speedster is beyond cool. Congrats!
