Some seriously cool shop art for sure. I kinda like the couch idea, too.

I talked with Jochen today. The parts were sold to someone that was going to use them for a project that never came to fruition. This coincides with what the previous owner told me. The family was very well-to-do. I don't believe these are stolen, but I'm looking into it.

I don't expect any serial numbers on carbon fiber bodywork. Many pieces had been repaired, that's racing.

Who knows if they are stolen or not, all I am saying is that it is pretty bizarre to see ultra-expensive stuff offered for free. It's fishy, let's put it that way.

I've done some research, and not to kill the drama this post is causing, but...... The parts were purchased by the previous owner, many years ago. They were heavy into auto racing and were planning on building a street version GT1. That project never happened, and they have since left the racing business. These, and other Porsche parts were stockpiled behind the house for many years, covered with tree debris. Since the previous owner and I have become friends, he has told me many stories of his racing days, but not of anything Porsche related. He just told me last week of all of the Porsche stuff in the backyard, getting destroyed by the elements, and wanted me to have it, since it was of no use to him anymore him. He said it made him happy to give it to someone who can appreciate it.
I feel very honored and lucky.

UNREAL;

As Joel can certainly attest, that is a seriously cool car. One of my great
regrets is that I did not put my life on hold and offer to sweep his garage floor
just for the chance to spend more time with that beast while he owned it. If I ever hit the lottery......

Funny, like I think you told me Joel, seeing that "current" pic of the car (post #24), he DID get the color all wrong didn't he?
