Default GT2 "Tribute" Car

Not sure if any of you have seen this. I know nothing about it but I would be very tempted....if I had the $$$.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...2-tribute.html

Probably a bit over the top for my daily commuter anyway.

It says the factory cars were built off the C2S platform and I think that is correct, but doesn't this car look like a narrow body? I know nothing about these GT2's. The rocker panel looks like a NB. Am I right?

Here is what the seller states:

For sale is a very special 993 GT2 Tribute Car. It was built as the Factory did off of a 993C2S and not the normal "disconect the front drive shaft" Twin Turbo. It is 2 wheel drive with proper factory 6spd. Engine is a tuned Twin Turbo plant with Ruf Turbos and custom wastegates. Programable boost allows from 475-585 BHP. The car is fully sorted, and has the best of suspension and braking components. The interior is fully hand sewn Alcantera. The car is light weight and Very Very fast, but maintains perfect streetability with high end audio and A/C...Way to much to list here. Asking $69,000..contact me for more photos or info...Thanks Steve 1.805.791.0233 or atomicpunk@roadrunner.com

Yep, I noticed the rockers were wrong as well. In this case, I'm not sure that the lineage of the base car is relevant, however it does speak to the possible lack of knowledge or integrity of the seller.

Since I'm not a buyer, I'll leave that up to someone else to decide.

If I could afford it, I'd find the commute to handle it.

I think the GT2's were built from narrow bodied cars, IIRC.

I agree the rear flares look wierd in the sense that they just stop and do not flow into the rocker.

Oem gt2 flares did the same thing however there were the wide body rockers to help the transition. The only flares that came from porsche that went to the bottom of the rocker were off the gt2 evo's or came on the rsr's which were more flush (and narrower)

Its a love it or hate it look. I happen to like it

I happen to like it too, when done right. On the car in question unfortunately it isn't.

no matter how you slice it theres a lot of $$$ in that car. especially considering the C2S base car.

I think the consensus here is that it was not a C2S to begin with.

It's not a widebody, but I still like the look. Makes me want to bolt on the flares and turbo onto my C2.

I believe correct me if mistaken this car was owned by the owner of Speed
Gallery Ventura Blvd studio city and had been for sale or sold on ebay about
a yr or 18 mos back.
Admittedly nice features with the Alcanterra dash and dr panels but slightly off
the mark with the narrow body assertion...hell C2S' are wide body after all.
This however is based on a standard C2 NB, the rockers may be welded in
although not a job you'd want to tackle in your back yard..
At that point you'd need the rear quarters and turbo front fender valance peice
too...and turbo rear bumper and so on..

The easy way to fix it would be to fit the correct narrow body 993RSR flares and the RSR rocker panel. It abuts the underside or the front and rear flares and makes the whole thing look finished-particularly on a street car.
