Default New Becker Radios???

does anybody know if you can buy the latest range of Becker radios in the USA? I'm searching for a new headunit and this would be a great way of keeping the "factory" look.

Are radios sourced from the UK compatible?

The official Becker importer seems to only carry the new Sat Nav systems.

I got an older Becker Mexcio for a 1960s car from www.beckerautosound.com. They will equip an old radio with an iPod adapter, so it looks classic but works like today.

I'd like to hear about UK sourced radios. I believe British FM band II uses the exact same frequencies as the US FM range.

I would love to know the answer to this question!! I want to keep the Becker look, and was interested in the Grand Prix 7990
http://www.mybecker.com/enUK/CAR+NAV...Prix+7990.html

I wrote an ebay reseller in germany, but no one seems to know whether the radio will work. For what this would cost to bring from Europe, I want to be really sure before ordering anything!!

I read somewhere that Becker radios can be set to USA standard frequencies. At least some of them can. Anybody can confirm this for the newest ones available?

One option may be to get a CDR220 from a boxster. It looks like these can be upgraded and look close to the CDR210.

I believe in Europe most radio (at least FM) stations end in an even number like 100.2, 106.8. etc. In the US they end in odd numbers so if the digital tuner only sets for even numbers you'll have a problem using them here. I've seen some radios that tune to each 0.1 so they would presumably work both places. The Becker people can probably tell you more.

Some radios can be set for either US or Euro freq. range. Don't remember if the CDR-220 can be set either way. I seem to remember it can but I'm not sure. I'll see if I can find my install manual to check. It may have been my BMW radio upgrade that had that feature.

Update: Just checked the owners manual of my CDR 220 and you can change countrys but it's only between USA, Asia, Australia or So. America.
No mention of Europe.

I'd like one of the new Beckers. Can the same thing/procedure be done with those?

I found this thread in the 993 turbo forum on the Becker Grand Prix unit.

I like the looks and functions. I thought I read that the am radio band does not work in the US.

Can anyone confirm this?
