The 987 Boxster is an awesome car. And those that have not driven one...need to.

You do DEs and you're concerned about looks? This is not a regular Boxster...it's a stripped out, light-weight Spyder. There is no mechanical roof. It's just short of tarp with some hooks to save weight.

Thumbs up

The video on the experience page on Porsches website reminds me of the great 993 video's from back in the day (still available on youtube) JUST AWESOME.

I still have a hard time figuring out how removing AC, roof, sound system etc. costs $3200 more, but who cares, this car embodies everything about Porsche that I love.

Oh yeah does anyone know if those new boxster spyder sport seats will fit in a 993?

I like it. I even like the but-ugly top which is almost as ugly as the original 550 Spyder tops that attached to the cowl with leather straps because there was only a small racing windshield with no frame.

Pure Porsche ...

Intriguing and very cool for sure but $61M plus sales tax puts you at $65-66M. At about that level I'm thinking 993 TT in a no sales tax private transaction, and you may never end up selling it for a penny less. Are there any performance numbers out on it yet?

And that's probably the answer to my close-mindedness.

That is very, very, very hawt.
More of this sort of thing would be just fine, Porsche

Available for years, these may gain in popularity with current Boxster owners...

Tony,
0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, according to 'Technical Data' tab on Porsche's website: "Unleashed. The new Boxster Spyder."

After looking more closely at the post, maybe not this one as my daily driver. But I want one MORE now that I paid attention to the specs. Looks like Porsche has gone back to their 'roots' with this one. Love it.

Thanks. I just looked at the link directly above and now I get it. Should have looked more first before opening my mouth. That is a very cool Porsche. As Cactus and others indicated, if you already had a 993 coupe what a great way to go topless. I get it. I wonder how many will be sold here in AZ where modern day AC-free cars are normally unimagineable though perfect right for now.
