Default RS Badge for an RS clone? or No?

Hey guys.

My project is wrapping up today and I'm debating the rear badging.

Unfortunately, its not a 993rs. But it has some of the OEM stuff...splitters, wing, side skirts, wheels, and brakes.

I don't like the way it looks bare. It looks like a lot of surface area with no break. For cars without the rear wing, I really like the badge-delete.

So, what do I do? I ordered the RS badge and new Carrera badge. Should be here soon.

I think I'll do the RS stuff, but I may be swayed if you guys have a freak-out about purist, poseur, fake, etc. I have a lot on my mind lately and may not be thinking clearly.

It's your car so do what you like best.

If it were my car I'd leave it badgeless, or put a 911 badge on it.

I had a 'Carrera RS' badge on the back of my RS-lookalike when I bought it. I personally thought it looked kind of cheesy since the car is not a real RS, so I removed the badge and left it 'naked'. It's your car so you should do what you like, but I felt weird about having the RS badge on a non-RS.

Tacky.
Porsche people in the know wil roll their eyes and shake their heads and the unwashed don't have any idea what a RS is.
Bad idea.
Save the time and effort.

Is it an RS, no... Do you want people to THINK it's an RS?... Do you care that they approve MORE of your RS than they would a standard 911?...I always wonder what the appeal is of badging a car something it isn't. Who would you be doing it for? - YOU already know it's not an RS so you can't fool yourself...

Again, it's your car and if it makes you happy I'm all for it - I just don't understand the reasoning behind it I suppose.

How about the special edition '911' badge? I think they are available from Sunset in black or silver fairly cheap. For a modified car, it makes the non-stock statement, but it's subtle.

No badge. Your car, though, so do what makes you happy.

I agree with the folks here. What makes you happy is what you should do, but the Porsche folks will know it's not a RS and shake their heads.

Faced with a similar dilemma myself since my C4S is about to be RWD, I've thought of a "clever" C(4-2)S personal badge but I think I'm heading for the clean look.

Best of luck, I love the look of all the RS trim

What about the RS wheel caps?

I think I'm seeing a trend.

Unless it's on an RS I'd go with no.

I'm with the badge-less crowd, but you need to do what will make you happy. IMO, the wing looks clean without it (my car has the turbo wing w/o any badging and I personally like the look).
