Default 5th Generation i-Pod and the CDR-220 Interesting find.

Well after a long battle with trying to get this thing hooked up with no joy I called Becker North America. Here is the setup I have

CDR-220 with the faceplate change
BAS-IPOD - i-Pod adapter Cable (not the RCA jack style) multi pin connector.

On the CDR-220 I enabled the "AUX" function and plugged up the i-Pod. All that would read out is "you can not charge from this connection". I knew this as Becker told me the 3rd and 4th generation did not charge unless another adapter was purchased. The issue for me was no music playing through the speakers. After a lengthy discussion with Becker they determined that the 5th generation i-Pod (Nano in my case) will not work with the i-Pod cable they supply (multi pin connector type). So just in case if anyone out there is jumping in to the 5th generation i-Pod (Nano in my case) it will not work in configuration with the CDR-220. However they did say the RCA style will still work, but at this point I am yanking the CDR-220 and going with and Alpine IDA-X305. This way I can have SAT radio and i-Pod. This is what hapens when trying to marry old and new technology. CDR with i-Pod cable for sale soon.

Or you could get an iPod RCA + Charger connector and get it to work on the CDR-220. Something like this would work:

Just FYI, you still need a Becker aux input cable.

Here's another thread on this topic from last year: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...connector.html

The people at Becker were very accomodating and easy to deal with. I am just going to go with an aftermarket unit. Believe it or not this Alpine I just purchased is the 5th stereo in a year. Should of went this way from the start. I like the factory look, but with this Alpine unit I can change everything from the head unit and forget about it (Tony Soprano voice). I am also instaling Sirius.

Thanks for the link Ilko - just ordered mine. I had been using rca-to-1/8" jack on the ipod. Will be nice to use the better quality line-out audio, plus have it charge!

ps- this is with my older nano
