OK, in all seriosness, YOU have to agree/acccept the offer, do not accept their initial offer if you do not agree with it. It will probably help if you have any documented evidence of similar valuation of "like" car[s]. That may get tricky.

when my wife's 912 was totaled, I was fortunate that 912 sales were at a premium. There were many ads in excellence for 912's at the time for between $7K - $12K. I faxed (yes it was that long ago) copies of the ads to the adjuster and they increased the valuation. Ultimately, they still want to keep you as a happy customer, because they want your premiums, if they **** you off, you are likely to go with another company. It may take some iterations, but be patient.

Then go get another 993!
same thing happened the initial offer from the insurance on my 00 Audi S4 was a joke, (theft recovery) it was $5k but the damage was well over that...after about 3 offers and 60-90 days I got them to total the car and pay out more than what I paid for the car less mods. (S4's also hit a high in late 2002)

No, they are not safe. In fact, they have one of the worst safety records of any automobile since the Model A.

I walked away from this wreck. Went to the hospital and was home 3 hours later. Rolled the car with the top down.

The car in this link has been for sale FOR EVER. Over 18 months. I don't think it is a good comp. And it has about 20,000 more miles than the OP's car.

Seems like a LOT of "aforest" cars are around for a long time.......

.....

But it's still a "good comp" as far as the ins co. is concerned.

This is the only pic I saved I deleted the rest. Hard to believe it was over 2 years ago and I am stupid enough or addicted enough to get another.

Driver error. Too much car and not enough skill

This happened 2 years ago I was just letting Dr. Xenon that these car are built tough. I was flying and missed a corner, hit a tree sideways and rolled. I had no problem getting another. The Rivi Blue cab is the replacement for "Old Yeller" Here is what the car looked like before I lost it.

I just got a bit nauseous looking at that. I don't think the top being up would have helped at all and since we don't have roll bars I've always wondered how I would fare in an accident.

Lets just hope you never have to find out. I was driving my car the way I shouldn't have been and paid the price for my stupidity.

Mike
