My day just got a little bit better.. :) Cool find
Hi guys.
This was actually yesturday but didn't have time to write then. My usual monday but thisone was rough. Lot's of things do to at work. Day just got better when I found something browsing the Swedish equivalent of Craigslist. Phoned him right away and went to pick it up after work.
Single RUF 10x19" one-piece wheel in the traditional RUF hypersilver finish . Turns out the swedish RUF subsidiary just shut down and this was one of the things they had left. This wheel has been used in their shop as well as on motorsport fairs, representing some of the products that RUF has to offer. Never mounted on a car though but perfectly useable. Man this wheel is heavy but very good looking. It's shining like a piece of jewelry .
My GF thinks I'm crazy. I came home with a big smile on my face and the wheel under my arm. She goes: What the hell are you going to do with one wheel?? . She has a point though, any ideas?
- Send the wheel to Andreas (AOW...) for a good clean and make make a RUF clock out of it?
- Use it in the garden as a waterhose pulley(?)
- Put it in the book shelf or hang it on the wall in the garage?
- Get another 3 (don't know if it's possible) and put them on the car?
- Put in on the floor in the living room, order a custom piece of glass and put it on the wheel, making it a table to have by the sofa?

+5 on table, may need to build a base to raise it up a bit, I bet Andreas can come up with " a leg under the wheel design from his garden hose wheel mount (with legs) design.
Sweet find!

Like this, but with a longer/taller section of pipe and a large-diameter, round base rather than the square mounting plate shown:

I was somewhat expecting this guy to chme in ..
Yours are 18" though, right? ..
US trip for 2010 in planning mode right now.. Probably looking at July but no dates set yet.. Will get back to you on that one.. Oh and yes, I will be spending some time at Victory..
Either that or what Andreas said below. I agree that a tire would work as well!
Thanks Andreas, that's very generous of you! I'm liking the "RUF coffee table" idea . Something like a 26" diameter glass piece on top of the 19" wheel.. The wheel is 10" wide (or high in this case) so I'm thinking a coffee table by the sofa should be low, maybe like 17-20" high? I understand the idea of making a stand that bolts onto the wheel, but what will the glass rest on?
The hose reel is cool as well but a table would be much more useable
Robert, I agree that this would make the most sense. But these RUF wheels are very solid, so I don't see anyone bending one anytime soon . The hypersilver coating is tough to replicate though so if you scratch one of your rear wheels you know who to call ..

My quick solution: I would use the same 1/4" plate steel disc as shown in my picture, weld on wheel studs in order to affix the RUF wheel with Porsche lug nuts, and weld that to a longer/taller version on the thick-wall steel pipe shown in my pic. Then I would have a large-diameter plate steel disc cut to serve as the base (to which the pipe is welded. Presto! Bomb-proof RUF wheel table base.
