Default Noob with 993TT

OK so its not a real 993TT but Im making it into one and its my first 911. Tha dude that ownd it before me upgraded it with a 993TT body kit and real 993TT interior and other parts but left tha motor stock. Tha paint job is tight its Lambo orange all over and its got Lambo doors. It runs smooth and tha AC is cold but its very slow for a 911 and needs an upgrade but it will do for now.

How much moo la does a 993TT motor run so I can start savin up for it.

You're looking at $25K for the 993TT motor.

VW Type 4.........down to what looks to be CA legal with the air pump. Thermal reactors on the bottom side? And a York A/C compressor! I had a couple of these to work on at my shop in Phoenix in the '80's.

Ok, so I'll put it out there...
Good for you in coming to Rennlist to learn and ask Qs. It is a great resource.
You will probably need a thick skin because there are a lot of purists on the board, and your car is not exactly...pure. So I imagine you will get some flack, but also good info. Just sort through, hang on, and good luck.

Somebody spent a lot of money doing the conversion so far - body panels, interior, Big Red brakes etc. so if it was done well and you didn't overpay then its not a bad start for a project. That said, a TT motor is upwards of $20k plus you'll need a tranny, so figure all-in your cost will be well over $25-26k.

I say leave it as is and drive a cool 912! Looks like a decent job. I would be afraid of having costs go above 25k, which you will never get back.

You could leave it as a 912E but they are slower than molasses and some of the 912E specific engine parts are particularly hard to find. My dad has a nice 912E that is ok as a grocery getter and around town but really leaves you wanting power and even a meager amount of revs and it doesn't have big tire or brakes that it has to haul around. Your easiest/cheapest route would be a 3.2L Carrera motor if you need to stay smog legal like those of us in CA. What ever the case though you are going to either need to completely redo the trans or get one out of a 76-84 911 as the impute shaft for the T4 is not compatible with a Porsche-6.

looks like a twin turbo S, so you may want to get the correct ECU and exhaust tips to keep it right.
