Default 993 engine fan overhaul - in pictures :)

I recently discussed how to refresh a tired-looking '95 engine fan & housing with Andy (Simpsoap). Mr. Soapy wanted to clean up his engine bay, and possibly inject some color at the same time. So I agreed to rework his fan & housing...

Once the setup (fan / housing / alternator) arrived, I looked it over and discovered that the alternator bearings were on their way out, and that the fan was making contact with the lower section of the housing. Andy quickly jumped on it and had a new alternator shipped to me within days.

To prepare the parts for paint, I carefully media blasted the fan & housing. This allowed any cracks (none) or flaws to show before prepping for paint. Once clean and washed, both items received several layers of self-etching primer, followed by paint. Everything used was from Duplicolor's 'High Temp' selection. The fan received primer/paint/clear.

I'm very pleased with how this project turned out. I worked on this when I could find the time throughout the last week and estimate that I spent around 8 hours completing it.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

Man that looks good! Andy, I can't wait to see it on your car.

Andreas, you lay down the paint a lot better that I do. I wish I had those skillz!
