Question Car Cover for Convertibles

I am looking for a convertible car cover that only covers the top of the car, to protect the interior from sun, dust and prying eyes.
I park my car in the garage. I never put the top up. I have it down all the time with the boot over it.
I am looking for a car cover that I can quickly put over the top of the car. I used to have one for a different brand convertible that would go over the windshield, velcro around the side mirrors and doorhandles, and slide under the trunk in the back to cover the car when the top was down.
Is there such a thing for a 993 convertible?
I have looked at all kinds of places, but the only thing I found was full car covers.

Thanks for the link. That's what I was looking for. How does it attach in the back? Do you have to open the engine compartment to stick it in there? Do you have any pictures of it, when it is on your car?

It has three heavy cloth tabs that tuck in between the boot cover and the top in the back, with velcro straps for attaching around the door handles, mirrors and wipers. If I get a chance I'll snap some pics this weekend. It covers the windshield, side windows and boot cover/top when down.

Fünfer--- In addition to Doug & others' good advice above, RLer Richard Kent's 2007 thread should prove helpful: "Cover for Cab when top is down?"

+1. I'm very pleased with mine. A number of material choices as well.

just wondering: what is the benefit vs a full cover? Seems it would take approximately similar time to put on/off, so why use the partial cover? Full one keeps tree sap, birds, etc off as well. I have a cab that I will leave the top down on while at work some times, and I put the full cover on (but not every time...).

thx

I can think of a couple of reasons for the partial:
1) smaller to transport for use away from home. Easier to transport wadded up in the back seat.
2) full size cover outside allows for possibility of paint scratching due to wind moving the cover around and abrading paint. There is a current thread going on this.

I use mine at work even when the top is up. I just close the sides in the door and it protects the top and keeps sun out of all the windows.

+1 on those. Mine is always on the floor behind my seat. Folded up takes up no room at all.

i was told if you keep the top down, it will crease the material??? how long is it safe to leave the top down without causing the top a problem if any???

thanks...

My experience with a new uncreased top is that if you leave it down for no more than 2 weeks at a time with a respite of at least a 24 hour up period every two weeks you will have no permanent creases whatsoever. After two weeks down the top will initially, however, show a crease that will then disappear if put up again for a day.

I have a multi-year experience doing this with success with the present top. Here in AZ we have a 6 month "top down" season (November through April) so it's been a good test. The results in a more humid climate could be different, however.
