Center Caps

Center Caps
I'm on my third replacement center cap after only 17 months. I have the plastic concaved caps that I believe came on the Boxster along with a few other models. Twice missing on the front, once on the rear. Not all the same side of the car. The "enameled" shield goes missing without my knowing it. The car has (unfortunately) not been to the track nor beaten in the streets, so I think I can eliminate the excessive heat aspect that might weaken the glue. I upgraded my suspension to Bilstein HDs + 030 springs, so I don't think I'm bouncing around like I was with tired suspension. Any one else experience this or know whether the "flat" ones with metal "ears" hold better? I'm tired of spending $60+ to replace this bling item.

Porsche Genuine ones do this, known problem. Buy aftermarket ones and they dont have this fault. Its the epxoy glue they use to fix the crest onto the cap, its to hard, its need to be a contact adhesive really

Do you have a pic? I have a set of dished, plastic ones that fit perfect and work great with the asthetics of the turbo wheel. They've been on for at least 4 years and were ordered from Sunset.
The caps do not have a 993 part number, but fit the wheel better than the standard flat versions:

In eight years, I've lost one cap (never just the shield). I had noticed that cap was slightly loose but didn't fix it then.
I have Sport Classic II wheels with flat caps and the arms are plastic, not metal. IIRC, there was another thread here in the last 60-90 days about this. I believe the recommendation was to slice the shields off carefully and reinstall them with good adhesive.
