Default New Tool for Changing Fan Belts

After buying the M10 12 Point tool and realizing that it doesn't fit
because my alternator spindle was a victim of an Allen wrench,
I had to come up with a different method to get the main nut off.
I tried the chisel and hammer tap but having only two hands I couldn't keep the spindle from turning while I hit the nut.
So here's the brand new Life Saver Tool everyone should keep with them at all times next to the spare belts!
Simple, a pair of vise grips and an old belt.
Just wrap the belt around the fan pulley and lock the vise grips as close as possible to the pulley.
It stops the fan pulley from spinning! One tap and the nut is off!
It took me about 15 min to change all 3 belts and start the car.
The only problem I have is I dropped an Allen Wrench down the pan and can't get it out.
I hope this helps someone! ~Chris

Cool trick. But, what is that grill in the background?

Hi Bruce,
That's the top of my wing on the back of my car. On hot days I grill hamburgers on there!
It's a stock Exclusive Aero Package.

Chris, if you bought the tool I think you did, it needs to be cut down to fit our cars...
a cutting wheel or hack saw works

MarkD, I think the problem was that someone previously messed up the shaft with an Allen Wrench, rather than using the proper 12 pt. (Triple Square) wrench.

Good tip. In the pic you have the belt turned V-side out, was this intentional?

Whatever way you find it grips better without scratching your pulley.
