Default :::bought my first Porsche :) ::: newbie member too

Hey whats up everyone. My name is Gabe and I currently drive an e46 330ci. I am a member of another forum (e46fanatics.com) so I know how funny some newbie posts are. I was recently on a trip to california with my family over the winter break when we were passing by Monterrey and out of the corner of my eye saw a blue 993 c2 cabrio. Im only 22 but this car has had my attention since I was around 12, its absolutely stunning. It has high mileage (112,000) but runs great and I have some of the service history through a carfax (at least it says service was done). Once we got back from the trip we wired over the money and a trucking company picked up the car last friday. It should be arriving on wednesday or thursday to where I live in Miami. The options listed on the car are: LSD, HI-Fi, heated seats, 17 inch rims.

Any recommendations that I should do when I get the car? Im guessing oil change but what else should i do?
Here are some pictures i snapped with my phone
thanks again and I look forward in having a good time here on this forum and with the new car!

edit: the car only comes with one key, and its not the original key. How can i go about getting an original looking key and the remote key fob (or if they have one like the new porsches that have the buttons and key in 1) for cheap, or cheaper than the dealer!

thanks again!
-gabe.

Well we won't hold that against you. They're nice family cars.

Change all fluids and filters as a minimum. This way you have a starting point and know where it stands.

Get a spare remote and program it along with the one you got. That will delete any other remotes that you did not get that may have been programmed into the immobilizer.

Oooo I like...Very nice color combo Gabe! Looks like she was taken care of too.
Not sure on the key question, I'm in the same boat so I will read the replies as well.

You said it came with 18inch wheels? Are those 18in. Cup wheels? If so, I haven't seen that on too many cars.

Welcome and congrats!

That explains it. Does it have a Drive Block sticker on each quarter window? Probably not.

Now I'm lost. If the early 95s didn't have an immobilizer (and supposedly they didn't) which I assume is what that Drive Block is all about, do they have any anti-theft device?

Welcome! I also have a 95 Cab and the sticker says Porsche Anti-Theft. No Drive Block though.

You can check out Pelican Parts for a lighted key, that is what would have been factory from Porsche for our 95 MY cars. Here is a link - http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...35%2D%39%38%29

Drive Block (engine immobilizer, remote keyless entry, and from all other accounts a royal PItA).

I think all the 95 has is an alarm, but I'm sure some one else will chime in with more knowledge.

1995 cars do not have keyless entry, though I did find a DIY aftermarket system (can't remember where) on how to add it.

I have a late 1995 with Drive Block, keyless entry...remotes.

I do know early 1995s didn't; I just don't know what they had in its place.

Welcome, but what a horrible year, and crappy color!

I too have a '94 (early in the year) build '95 (M718). Factory alarm, but key activated in the door lock. I have no problem locking/unlocking via the key, and the lack of risk of a problem with the immobilizer seems to offset any inconvenience.
