Default I have a theory.....993 rennlisters

Every time I log in, I always see significantly more 993 forum users than any other forum. Why is that? One theory is that there are simply more rennlisters that happen to be 993 owners, but 993 production was no unusually greater than other variants (65k made), so its not like sheer numbers of 993s ever made overpower the forum. There are plenty of 911 variants out there to compete in number of rennlist users with the 993. But EVERY time I log in, there are always many more 993 users engaged in this forum.

I can only conclude that the 993 is the best 911 every made, which naturally attracts a more devoted fan base of people, who are engaged, concerned, inspired and keep this forum dynamic of them all!

My theory,
The early 911 crowd is on another forum and the later 911 owners do not have the same percentage of
enthusiasts. Excluding GT2-GT3

The 993 board is a big part of my 993 ownership. I love it here and it is a great resource. Thanks to all those who have figured out all the answers that has made my car a better one to love.

We are always here trying to figure out if we need to take the engine tray off or leave it on.

I always thought that the 993 crowd was comprised of the knowledge seeking purists that continually strive to enhance their understanding....

but maybe it's because we are a bunch of folks with no external lives and have nothing better to do than surf the web.

Go look at the forum list on Pelican-the 911 forum; users at any given time, threads, total posts.....it dwarfs this one. The Rennlist 911 forum is MUCH smaller.

I think that we appreciate fine, understated things in life, and part of the pleasure of ownership is in sharing the meaningful experience with other similar ppl.

Simple. 997 owners tend to be 60 y/o plus. I think the average age of new Porsche ownership is close to 62 y/o. 997 owners and to a lesser degree 996 owners are not interested in taking care of their own cars (sans the "enthusiasts" like GT2/3 owners as indicated above) so they are far less likely to participate in a forum such as this. Put those elements together and you'll have hardly any participating in a forum such as this. Within the next 2-3 years I bet the numbers of 996 owners participating in the 996 forum increases dramatically.

That's why we live vicariously through Steve's line-dancing dates! (said Mike while on a bus to a date in NYC).

I'd trade a good portion of this for some real-world interaction like we had in the good ol' days...................

So tough to herd the cats it seems everywhere except at the track.

This site, especially the present forum provided a great resource for my 1st, 2nd, 3rd and soon to be 4th 993.

Not a whole lot of information missing on mechanical or service issues, if a search here doesn't provide the answer to whatever the 993 question, it probably does not exist yet.

Hard to find a more accomodating group of like minded individuals. Not much newer that appeals like the 993.

We definitely have an active community here, partly due to the high regard for the cars, partly due to the passionate owners.
