Someone mentioned either on this thread or another, that some need "to belong". They need to be part of a "club".

That does remind me of the local (useless) BMW motorcycle club I used to belong to. The prez (let me bow at the ankles) would pester me for a membership when I'd attend the odd meeting (to see if things had improved) at a restaurant where they gathered free of charge for their get togethers.

There was no cost to him or the club if I or any non-member attended, but his attitude made it crystal clear to me that membership numbers were far more important to him than getting like minded people together.

What a sorry soul!

I must confess this discussion is getting old. Can we talk about something more interesting now, like oil maybe?

I'd prefer engine undertray discussions...and their disadvantages.

I do have the bolt drilled and the thermocouple wire I made up at work on hand...just have to bond the bead into the bolt.

Speaking of ads, I don't mind the ads much, except today that they have a Corvette ad on our 993 page!

Yeah, I never broached this idea on this thread, and I'm suprised it took someone so long to mention it, but there is a big chance that we just have some cheap people on the board as well

Whatever we have it certainly isn't what it used to be 10+ years ago.

My daily visits to Rennlist is what gets me through the long cold Canadian winters without my P-Car. I live vicariously through the posts from the members in CA, GA, TX, etc.

For that I am a member.

Yes, I can summarize.
If you become a member you will not:
1.Be cheap;
2.Be broke;
3.Have egg on face and
4.Will be helping a poor billion dollar company stay in business.

Now if you do NOT become a member:
1.There will be many ads displayed to all and more to come.

PS Sorry for that Corvette add, I think it was my fault by not paying the $17.

Being a member means you'll have access to the member's section such as the member-to-member classifieds, an essential resource for folks looking for cars (any type of car), Porsche parts and the occasional laptop, camera, smart phone, etc. Moreover, the member's area allows you access to the Off Topic board (some find not having access to OT to be a better scenario since the board can be acrimonious, but the atmosphere of political miasma has cleared after the creation of the Politics and Controversy sub forum) where you can find ask non technical questions on just about anything and find out about the latest time-wasting internet game, discuss the latest news events, etc.

But, more than anything, if you become a member you won't have to rationalize how you're not a cheapskate.

Mark, does that mean I should stop spending my money in the US and start buying my parts in Canada at double the price?

I and other smart shoppers have never considered themselves cheap or a cheapskate because we spend our money wisely. Frugal maybe, but then we must be part Dutch and part Scottish. The one thing I'll never be is a "puppet".
