The journey to Vesuvius.....Not Back in Black

By far the best modification done to my 993 is the re-geared box. It is just so sweeeeeeet!! Winding up the gears from 1...2...3...4...5 the rpm only drops to about 5100-5200rpm, which means I'm putting down all the power the engine can produce. The redline comes so fast it really feels (and sounds) like driving a street bike.
I can't wait to see what it is like after the S/C install...

Hey Cactus,
I 'll try and shoot some more pics, but there are several in multiple threads floating around.
The regear might interest you, in that I took the poor mans approach. I spent some time talking over my needs with Matt at Guards Transmission (303-530-1094) I was thinking of doing the popular route where you replace 3,4,5, and move 5th to 6. I do not plan on tracking my car, and I enjoy road trips, so Matt suggested a different route. He ran the numbers and came up with something similar to a 996 cup car. I have a 97 box, so 1 and 2 are fixed. He suggested changing 3 and 4, and leaving 5 and 6. This works great for adjusting the power band for "canyon carving", but keeps the highway economy as well. It was a good compromise for me, and is more tailored to how I will use the car. I would have had to do something different if I wanted to track it. I figure the new regear, RS LWF, RS cams and intakes with RS motor and transmission mounts, coupled with the SSK and Golden Rod...... She should be sweet.

Hey Chris,
I dropped the car off at the body shop late Monday. The shop is in Kentucky, and I live in Tennessee. I dropped in before heading home on Tuesday, and they had already done the headlight washer delete. It was just shiny metal
Mike (Arena993) has agreed to drop in and keep me updated. I left a camera so the progress could be documented.
I had already stripped the car prior to delivery, so as to get a better deal on price. There is a bad spot of rust below the windshield on the right cowl. He will cut out the bad spot, and weld in new metal.
This will be a full glass out respray, and color change. I will be going with Vesuvius, with the Silver trim. I am also doing bumperette delete along with washer delete.
I can't wait to get it back. I will try and keep everyone posted.

Emerald, this is OT, apologies to all, but I noticed your tag in the original post. "AT".
Get on the trail often? I live about 30 miles from Springer.
Keep the updates coming on the car, please.

Hey Sportsman, good place to live. I would probably hit the trail more often if I were that close. I am taking a break, now that I have completed my thru hike

Yeah....the shop is top notch. They do some incredible work there, but I am not too sure about some of the characters that hang out around there....
