As soon as it hit my top number (75k), i stopped watching. Was surprised to see it go >33% higher than that. Maybe there's some gold bars hidden in the wheel wells.
At the 110k+ i would expect a garage queen. It's in that zone where it already has too many miles to ever be a show car, but also its not driven enough. Its also 25K more to a 993tt at that point.
Congrats to the seller and the buyer though! Great car!

$25k more than a 993tt??? No ... if this was a 993tt it would have sold for $165k+

welp ... 4S was based on Turbo... see those prices? So as the saying goes “a rising tide lifts all boats.” Also ... not gonna make any more of them... last of the Air Cooled Wide Body cars. Great color combo as well plus low miles. 6,948 cars made World Wide only 96’ to 98”. Pretty low numbers .. combined with 24+ years old and many wrecked, r-title, neglected, high miles, bastardized etc......

I'm just saying that at the 110K price range, its ~25Kish to the move up to a twin turbo. Here's a good example: 46K miles, no accidents, california car. Listed for 138K, but I bet the dealer will let it go for 130K.

Am i just way off base?
Edit: No affiliation to clubmotorcars. I just searched on cargurus and found the first TT sorting by price.

I totally get why the C4S is desirable for the reasons you stated. No disagreement on the car itself.

1.) BaT peanut gallery seemed to be mixed in response as in some were like "wow, that's strong money" and others "great price". We on this board are much closer to the situation in terms of market values, since it appears most have a vested interest?
2.) If anyone is dismissing the final sale price (plus buyer's premium, I believe was $5k) as inflated or madness, etc, I offer to go take a look at PE Ratios / Bitcoin / Real Estate...etc...people with cash are looking for places to put it...so why not a fun "collectible" that you can enjoy while it (speculative) appreciates?
3.) If you've been following the C4S market, go find another one at a better price on the market with that much detailed information, history, and interaction with the actual owner? As far as I can tell, there isn't another car that comes close.
I was pretty happy with the result...seemed pretty "fair" for both buyer and seller, although I was rooting for a bidding war.

Lately with no-story sorted NB cars approaching mid $60ks to low $70ks, for a short while WBs were still clearing sub-$90ks -- I thought the price band between NB and WB has narrowed (used to be about 35%).
Looks like that gap was restored, albeit w/ only 1 data point.
I do sense that 993 prices are on the rise. Low interest rate leads to asset inflation leads to proliferation of places investors look to park some value. With 964s becoming poor values (don't get me wrong, not bad cars, just dollar-paid-to-quality-of-car-bought ratio is going downhill), 993s are the only way for modern air-cooled enthusiasts to go.

106k (including buyer's BAT fee) looks about right. I would have guessed 100k +/- 10k.
Someone was arguing on BAT that 993 prices peaked 2-3 years ago. What do you all think? I looked through the Great American Sale Thread and did not really see evidence for that.
