Isn't part of the 911 (pick your generation) thing being part of a relatively large, active group? There used to be a rather active NSX club around here, and their track events were kind of offshoot BMW club ones since so many of the BMW club instructors had or moved to an NSX. But that's all gone now. I think the last event I instructed at for them was maybe 2004.
So yeah, it's a neat car. I've got enough time in them, both stock and several of the forced induction solutions. (LOVE the crankshaft-across-the-intake-to-drive-the-supercharger one best.......) But even if a 993 lacks here and there, overall I'll take the bit larger sales volume so there's a bit more activity.
First part is true, but thats not really the car's fault.
The supercharger drive setup is unique and a bit goofy, but it works, doesn't it.
The comptechs are positive displacements, no goofy drive arrangements.
Porsche regrets never producing more than one of these straight from the factory
...as told by a Porsche family member to a RLer/ PCA member/ Speedster addict.
