1997 C2S: 1st and 5th 993
While it's technically the 5th time I bought a 993, it's really the fourth 993 I've owned. This one I purchased twice. She's that good.
In between my ownership four years ago and now two other Rennlisters were just taking care of it for me. Both PO's are Rennlisters and those kind of car enthusiasts that we all want to buy from. There was no need for PPI's, questions, test drives, or even a seeing the car before buying it.
I flew into Philly and Ian kindly picked me up in his BOSS 302 for the short 20 minute drive to his place. When we arrived at his house, he mentioned the car was is in the garage and we could go over it and inspect; I knew that wasn't necessary, we just did the paperwork and I got the keys.
Ian kindly guided me in his BOSS through the maze of roads around his place to the interstate. The adrenaline and thrill to be in the car again was just like the first time when i picked it up in AZ....I felt a little sadness for Ian as I accelerated past him as he exited the interstate. He really did not want to part with this car. Well that feeling of sadness lasted all about the time it took to go from 50 to 80 on the interstate
On the 2 hr ride to NYC I noted that the car seemed perfectly balanced and tuned. The suspension is much stiffer than the stock one it had during my previous ownership. My first thought was to take it in and have it softened. Then I took her out for a 300 mile jaunt this morning through some of CT's twisty turny hilly country roads. That suspension is fine and will be left just as is!
Looking through the paper work added to the file I left with the car four years ago, I added up $25,000 in reciepts for things OTHER than routine maintenance! There was no expense spared on everything from the sound system to the suspension. I can't believe my luck in getting this car back.
For the time being, I'll leave everything as is save for replacement of a couple of gaskets and the front tires. I'm looking into changing out the interior grey with a red leather and black carpeting. I'd like to get a set of 17" cup wheels (and rear spacers) for a long distance trip I'm planning for next month.
Here are some pictures, I didn't take them, the professional detailer who prepped the car for Ian did. I'll take some pictures once I get her all cleaned up again. The detailers work was incredible and deserves a look:

Race Car
I can't remember, but was that purchased from the friendly fellow in Scottsdale (maybe his name was Ken)? Higher mileage? If so, I remember that car well and did some runs with it.

Very nice Bart! I was sad to hear that you sold the C2, but it’s hard to resist the allure of the wide body! Great looking car and with a red gut, you will have built a dream car! Silver (any shade)/Red & Black/Red is just a spectacular combo.

Congratulations, Bart, and thanks for making this an easy and smooth transaction. I'm going to miss her dearly as she is truly an excellent example of a very rare car. I hope she treats you as well as she treated me.

Wow...what a great story!!!
Do you feel like opening up with all the buy, sell & buy numbers? Considering how much $$ was put into it, sounds like the smartest move ever!

Patrick: yes this is Kents old car and she still runs as good as she did in AZ.
Ben: thanks, i hope you're able to get some miles on Barney this summer!
Ian: I really lucked out that you amd Kevin took such great car of the car, thanks again!
Nick: I just knew if I couldn't have Ginger, I'd have to recreate her...kinda like Marilyn Monroe although
that inflatable just never quite did it for me.
Mike: GL with the detail...post pix when it's ready
Ish: I sold it with around 105K miles she has 114K now, the price hasn't changed much on the buy/sell in that 5 year period (variance +/- $2K), I would consider the car much higher value today than when i sold it.

They say 2nd time around is always the best (unless you have a another moment and sell it again and repurchase a 3rd time).
This is an example of why miles are not a fair measure of value. With all that has been done to it, even if you paid the $37K asking price, you got a great deal.
Best of luck (again). I think 4 (or 5) 993s are enough already. Leave some for others to enjoy.

Only the front bumper cover. It had 113,000 miles worth of wear and I had the whole unit replaced and repainted. Otherwise, it had the paint corrected from the detailer and a few dabs of touch up paint on various rock chips over the years.
