One of our RL 993 brethren is ill
More than a few of us know Chuck Sertich from the Memphis area. He was at Palooza last year and in '09. Anyhow, I received the following email from his wife today. I knew he was on the transplant list for a new liver, unfortunately, he's no longer eligible.
I hope we have 1 or 2 RLer's in the Memphis area who can check in with him. I'm going to try my best to take a drive over there as soon as he's able.
Best wishes to Chuck and the family.

Good Afternoon,
As some of you know, Chuck became seriously ill last Thursday and was admitted to the hospital in Germantown. then transferred to Methodist Central. Series of tests revealed a mass on his right temporal lobe which was operated on Monday evening. Preliminary reports show this to be a malignancy (glioblastoma multiforme) They could not remove the entire mass and noticed some changes which, although not actual tumors at this time, will most likely become so and spread. This is an agressive form of brain cancer. He will be receiving chemotherapy and radiation, but even with this treatment, the doctors think the most time we'll have him with us is about 18 months.
The liver transplant is completely off the table now. This latest has nothing to do with the liver - it is a whole new problem.
Chuck came thru the operation well - he is talking and mentally competent at this time.
Will keep you updated.

Thank you Bill for letting us know.
We've been in touch with Chuck and knew about the situation before but had been asked not to discuss it. At this point he needs the prayer and the more discussion the better. cancer sucks and it just isn't fair, but then when is cancer fair? He was supposed to come visit us few months ago and then his plans had changed at the last minute (and for a vey good HAPPY reason). Since we didn't see him then and with what was going on, Robert and I were actually talking about driving up to Germantown to see him a week ago. I sure wish we did.
Chuck has been a fighter for a long time now and I know he will continue the fight for however long it takes or he has. That 1/2 (or 1/4, I don't remember) Croatian in him makes him stubborn and I know he's gonna give it all he's got.
Our hugs and prayers go out to him and Katie and his entire family.
Here's a picture of Me and Chuck at the Porsche Palooza last November. He's a real classy gentleman. There aren't many out there like him.

Bummer! All his posts indicate that he's a class act. As I recall, he's fought a number of serious health issues in the past with an incredible attitude. Hope and pray he'll prove the doctors wrong.

As everyone states, Chuck is a fantastic guy and a fighter. He really enjoys his car and his Palooza buddies.
I'm a huge fan of Chuck and am praying for him in his latest fight. Give 'em hell Chuck.

Bill,
Thanks for the update. Chuck has been a great contributor to Rennlist and probably an even greater contributor for those around him. I've always liked his online persona and have him in my thoughts and prayers.
I am an inarticulate clod, so my stream of consciousness thought can only convey, "M*therf*cking b*llsh*t cancer f*cking blows."

A couple of pics of Chuck and his car at Palooza '09 & '10.
For some reason most of the pics I have with him from the drives over just show his back side, guess I was concentrating on the cars.
