There was enough snow on Blood Mountain and Richard Russell Scenic Parkway that GDOT scraped and salted the roads and closed Richard Russell, which remains closed until the weather warms. I'm going to be at the Dahlonega Home Depot at 9:00->9:30 on Saturday and see who shows.

Sorry for the bad info earlier.

Terry
Thank you very much for all your research and checking for us. We will pass on this one and just wait for some other events in the warmer months. Have FUN!!

I'm interested in participating too. I'm coming from midtown.

So even with the few closures that have been described here, the conditions should still be ok, right? Where do the Atlanta people meet? I had figured about an hour's drive from my place to the Home Depot in Dahlonega.

I am out I guess... I was hoping for clean roads with how warm it has been. I will be going to Caffeine and Octane Sunday Morning off Winward Parkway though if anyone else wants to show up.

Richard Russell has been re-opened, so there are no closures at this point.

The roads are dry and are expected to remain that way, so salt should not be a problem.

Depending on how much gravel GDOT put down, there is always the chance of paint and windshield chips.

I believe Jim posted a map of the Starbucks location where the Atlanat folks meet in post #15.

Default New proposed route

Go to google maps and paste this url in the search line>

http://www.kesslerdesign.com/97targa/NewNGNYEFR.kmz

~100 miles or about 2 hours. Start at the mall and end in Dahlonega or vice-versa. Only concern is the following five roads> Southern, Roy, Dblhead Gap, Newport and Dial between 52 and 60. I have not travelled them and do not know if they are fully paved. They look to be. @TMC maybe you could go check....

Oh, also we will be passing by AMP too.

Sorry...I won't have time to check the route. We're having our HVAC system replaced today and the house is full of workers. They won't be done until almost 5:00 PM.

I bought and installed those used C4 mounts that Ben (aka TheBen) posted for sale here. Just the rears, not the tranny mount, and yes, I did them myself, with the help of the advice I received here: tools, techniques, etc.

Last time we saw each other, you told me of a cheap way to (possibly) address a leaking timing chain cover. Was it replacing washers or grommets on the bolts? Mine is leaking worse than that broken oil well in the Caribbean.

Re the meetup, I can get to the Starbucks at 8 or 9, depending on the will of the majority. I'd say 8 just so we can get to Dahlonega by 9 and beat the bulk of the civilian traffic - less chance of collateral damage that way, lol...I know JimK needs his beauty sleep however.

Let's keep 8 for Starbucks.. Jim.. Consider it a goal and the reward is Coffee..

We can leave Starbucks by 8:20-8:30 to get to Home Depot.

Just some house keeping there is a gas station just before the Starbucks. If you need to fuel up do it before our meeting points. The last couple years we've lost ppl or have been separated and lost a ton of time getting cars filled..

I've had a complication arise this afternoon.

I will either (1) make the whole run, (2) meet everyone at HD and not make the run, or (3) not be there at all. If you don't see me by 9:30, have a great drive.
