Amazing. I don't think I'd have the patience to sit down and post about this if I had just had that done, it would take me at least a couple weeks before I came home. Charlie would be in trouble, that's for sure..

Lifetime achievement results for any Porsche owner. Amazing! The dude is half robot, half human. He is a genius. It'd be surreal to see one of those rolling down the street let alone driving one with my name on the title.

Thanks for sharing and more thoughts pls!

How does the car drive with those wheels?

Did you do any suspension work? Do you have to?

Thanks for sharing. Really very beautiful.

nice work. Very interesting build. Glad everything worked out for you.
Your car looks amazing to say the least.

os993: the kit comes with a suspension kit. If i'm not mistaken its around 20-25k for suspension, all body mods and wheels. Labour is included as Nakai will not allow anyone else to install the kit.

I'm sure the Op can chime in and confirm all this but I inquired about a year ago now and If I recall that was what the deal was at that time. My memory is terrible though so I could be off on the prices and details.
Ill have to dig up the emails back and forth if I still have them.

either way nakai is a bread apart, someone who works hard from what I can see and he has made a whole sub culture that is turning heads worldwide. That in itself is worth something. best of luck to him and anyone who can get the funds together to make it happen.
amazing.

I didn't think the parts are that expensive, unless he has an exclusive on Sunburst?

? i think rauhwelt is much different & unrelated to sunburst & nakai's builds are accompanied by suspension-wheel/tire set up....RWB all-in install well over $20k (and believe he remains back ordered).

lopro..."os993: the kit comes with a suspension kit. If i'm not mistaken its around 20-25k for suspension, all body mods and wheels. Labour is included as Nakai will not allow anyone else to install the kit."

The body comes with just the body. Suspension is extra and you do need ride height adjustable coil-overs to make it all work. RWB will sell you a set of Japanese coil-overs (I forget the price) but they also support the use of PSS10. I have PSS10 so I was good on that front.

I spoke with Nakai-san to try to get a better understanding of the long term plan, was he going to continue to build every RWB around the world? This is still not clear due to the language barrier. At first he said, he will build first one in each state requesting? But we know he has build multiple in CA. After multiple questions I would agree with you that, at this time, if you buy the RWB program, then Nakai-san will come and build your car as well.

Here are the things you must consider:
Purchase price of 993 or 964 as I'd didn't even have a 911 before I purchased the kit...that's a little crazy.
Purchase price of body kit for one
Suspension
Wheels...And at 18x13 and 18x10.5 don't forget the rubber cost is not insignificant
High quality paint for all parts..."There will be prep" for your painter so don't overlook that book times doubled. This is not to say the parts didn't fit perfectly, but to say there are things to repair and sand to get a perfect finish once painted. I'll say it wasn't a $500 "uh-oh better get maaco" job!
Then there is U.S. Customs, they do not deal with that, so you will need a customs broker to get it all into the Country. Add his fees, taxes, and tariffs.
Then the shipping...I was under the impression the large boxes of parts and wheels would be put into a "container" ship and would come across the Pacific and into a CA port and then trucked freight across the Country. A true slow boat from Japan. No, I get a call from the freight company in Miami asking me who my customs broker was as they want to know if I want my "stuff" off their 747...What! Were did that plane come from the CA port? No..."it left Tokyo last night! And it landed in Miami this morning." So sit down for the overnight air freight bill.

Calvin,
Sunburst is a different company and I discussed this question with Nakai-san as well. He knows the owner and has used some of their doors and such, his kit is not from Sunburst, they are his own design and he claimed Sunburst does not make his parts.

Oh yeah! One last picture from Nakai-san...when he left the shop yesterday he said he wanted to go back to the beach and watch the sun set.

Here is the picture he sent me from Clearwater Beach FL.

Keep in mind Flying Finn those aren't the prices or the parts for RWB. Just google the Yen figure to dollars?
