Default [SOLD] 1996 993 C2 Coupe 6 spd Midnight blue/Tan 76K miles

SOLD SOLD SOLD

1996 model, upper rear middle brake light, immobilizer.
The car is midnight blue metalic, with cashmere/black interior.
6 spd manual transmission

located in San Jose. this is a norcal car.
The car was originally from Sonnen Porsche, in Marin,Ca.
1st owner there in Marin, to 50K miles.
Second owner, in 2004 in Los Gatos, to 69K miles.
Then me in June 2010. It now has 76K.
I have a recent carfax.
I smogged it for bi-annual about a few weeks ago (on rollers)

now rides on Koni shock FSD and M033 springs I installed last year ( search my posts)
Also has RS engine mounts.
front suspension is walrod bushings with tie-rod pinned.new sway bushings.
18" turbo twists were factory option, tires are Dunlop Direzza star spec, that I installed last year. Rims have some minor rash on 3.
Mufflers are Mille Miglia. they sound great, better than stock, but not loud like Fister. Stock mufflers are available to be included.
Brakes are stock and in good shape, prob 50% worn. no issues there.
Engine runs great starts everytime, oil consumption is average, I add some about every 1000 miles, but nothing crazy. timing chain covers seep a bit. but no drops on the ground. When I bought it I had RMG in sunnyvale do the PPI. they found a leaking oil cooler, bad fan resitors, and leaking trans shift shaft seal ( I replaced all).
There is accident history, the paint work is not original everywhere. front and rear resprayed in 2005 when the PO had a low speed spin on hwy 17 here in norcal ( very curvy highway) I think it was and "bounced" off the concrete divider n center and the ones on the sides. There was mild front end and light rear end damages on the corners, and thus new bumper covers, LF fender and headight, a dent in the LR fender by the tail light. That was repaired pretty good, but a close look will show that its not all factory. some paint overspray in door jams. doors and roof section is orgininal. From 5 feet way, you would never know. If your looking for a driver, so this may not be super important to you, as it was not so much for me either. the results are that there is little chipping up front, despite the 76K miles. the windsheild was replaced at some point, so its clean with not many knicks and chips. the accident was not what I consider "major", like a hard shunt with another car, at speed, it was not a salvage or anything.

It drives very solid, no signs whatsoever mechanically of the above history.

More details:

wing air deflector is not torn
PS rack is not leaking
Recent Mobil 1 oil change with both filters
Distributer belt has been changed
main belts in last 6K miles
60K service done by RMG/PO done at 65K with plugs/caps/etc
brake fluid flush last fall
K/N air filter
Redline oil in trans ( ns type)
non faded headlights
car cover ( interior dust blocker)
dash/steering wheel is black, floor mats are black, hand brake and shift **** is black, rest is cashmere.
Radio is CDR210
battery is yellow top optima
there was some coorsion from the old battery on the floor, I cleaned and POR15'd it.
car paint was completely detailed by auto concierge in june 2011
the engine top end is not done yet, or needed yet
no smog issues
Sai works fine
recent window switches
spare DME
spare belts
I replaced the driver door seal last year ( was torn at the bottom)
borelli motorsport did complete alignment with lkinematic toe a year ago

I have some history from PO's and very detailed records from my ownership.

Im keeping the carrera 3 wheels I bought recently

I drove it to rennsport. I was thinking of going to Parade in Salt Lake with it.

Im thinking of selling...well...couple reasons...1. my wife wants me to reduce cars. 2. I just bought a VW R32, 3. I want a 968 coupe..4. need some money in the bank... so it goes.

Hmmm, been missing my old midnight blue 993 a lot lately and have a 968 coupe. Wish it were a year from now and these house projects were done! Good luck with the sale. Great car and I'm sure will go quick.

totally different animal. I had a 2000 GTI for 12 years...the R32 is so much better. i think I like it a little more than the 993 right now, but its still "new" to me so...

Good luck with the sale. I also had a 2004 .:R32. What a great car. It was especially specail to me as the car was never available in Canada so I had to wait until the gov't changed the laws to be able to import one. I've owned many VW's (around 15 in my time) and the .:R was by far my favorite one. Wish I would have kept the car however sold it to buy an S4 avant (love as well). Not sure the .:R compares to my 993 however! My close but different (in a great way)!!!!!

How would you say the R32 compares to the Avant? I'm looking for a new DD and I've shortlisted the R32 and S4 Avant. I prefer the interior design of the Audi's but how the do the handling, acceleration and running costs compare?

Well the S4 feels very similar to the .:R32 but just a bit bigger. Both very fun to drive however my commute is not ideal for the S4. Basically, the S4 needs to be really warmed up before reving it. Unfortunately for me, by the time the 10L of oil gets up to proper temp, I'm already at work. Therefore it seems as though I'm constantly driving it like a granny and not having fun. The .:R warmed up in about 5 minutes and I was good to enjoy a bit of my daily commute. Other than that, the car is a beast!!! Running cost are definitely higher on the S4 (fuel alone) as the parts are alot more expensive than the .:R. I've only had my avant since November however so I cannot really comment too much about the operating expenses.

Beautiful car. I love that color combo. It looks to be priced right and I don't think it will take long to sale. Good luck.

Since the wheels that will go with the car are not on it right now, I pulled them out and cleaned them up also.
