Default Rear facing infant seat in 993; new info

Hey folks,

Baby is on the way. I've researched this topic for about 7 hours on rennlist and other forums and I cannot find an answer.

Please help me find a *rear* facing car seat that will fit in the *back* seat of the 993 (coupe).

I really am at my wits end. I've purchased a Chicco keyfit and a Graco snugride. I also purchased the Rennline harness mounts so I can use latch. I can't get any to work with either the belt or the latch system.

Can someone please elaborate on how to do this? Rumor has it that someone was successful.

Mike

Maxi Cosi - Pria 70 but due to the cramped space, I only see using these convertibles as front facing chairs which means the child needs to be more than 1 yrs old to ride in these cars.

It was my conclusion that no rear facing seat could be used in the Porsche for my son.

The age vs position recommendations changed last year. There is no magic one year birthday when the risk drops to an acceptable level and you can turn the seat around. I just got to the point last weekend, with my son 21 months old and 26 pounds, That I would put him in the forward facing Diono RXT child seat. I chose the Diono because it is the narrowest convertible seat I could find and it has a load dispersing device that goes in the shoulder straps for kids between 20 and 40 pounds. He won’t ride in it again until I get the top tether connected and the latch connection improved. The provided latches are too long to really cinch the seat down tight enough, IMO.

I've posted a bunch about this. Search on me and car seat.

Here's the net: A) don't sell the car, but B) you can't get rear facing and have a front passenger. If your passenger is willing to sit behind you with the rear seat in back, then you have a chance. Otherwise, you are likely going to have to wait until forward facing.

Please be aware that the 1 year / 20 lbs rule for forward facing is only a LEGAL rule, and is generally considered not safe. Check out www.thecarseatlady.org for lots more information.

Can you post some pictures installed? The Maxi Cosi is the one I found to be much narrower than the Britax Roundabout which is what 80% of other threads talk about.

This is the only pic I have available right now. I know, it doesn't help. I'm going to work on the top tether this weekend and I'll get some pics. We have the Britax in my wife's car so I'll get it out and take some side-by-side pics with the Diono.

Supposedly the Combi Coccoro is a rear facing child seat with the smallest footprint currently on the market. I do not have experience with it, though. Available via Target.com.

Putting a rear facing seat in the rear of a 993 is so compromising for the front passenger that you might as well remove the front seat entirely

Thank you! Please take pics of the base and how it fits into the rear seat.

Maxi cosi mico rear facing infant seat fits perfect in 997 without base. . May fit 993, I have hardback sports some think won't fit though. Regular seats it may work. Remove the bottom pads of the rear seat.
