Mint C2 no more
So I'm driving down a neighborhood street today when a six year old throws some stones and damages the passenger door on my 95 C2. Three paint chips along with a clear coat scratch. Before the incident my car had not one scratch, or ding. My estimate starts at a touch up paint job with porsche's color code match, or a six hundred dollar door panel paint job. Or a $2,000 dollar repair blending the rear and front panels with the door. I'm afraid the repair will be noticible with the rear and front panels painting just the door. And if and when I decide to sell the car, the paint meter will raise suspicion. So I wonder how much value my car lost today? This really sucks. Haven't owned it a month.

As long as you have documents of what happend / what was done to repair the car (take pictures of before the repair and after, put them in a binder with other receipts), it won't effect resale too badly. At the end of the day, a shame...

The trick is to find the right shop and painter, Coop referred me to a shop in town which PERFECTLY matched the new paint with existing paint, and it was a very difficult Viola Metallic color no less, granted they had to take the gas cap off and sent if off to PPG to get a perfect match, but the effort paid dividents with the final result where I simply could not tell the difference under all kinds of bright light source.
Thanks again Coop!!

Forget color matching, I'd be painting my door with some six year old blood!
Well; then again I can't say much I guess. Throughout my childhood I broke a window or two, and rode my bike around in circles on fresh concrete once. I thought it looked cool, but those concrete guys apparently didn't appreciate my artwork. They were rather upset...heh.

Sorry to hear of the kid damage! Find the best shop in your area that works on fine automobiles preferably a restoration shop and not a insurance repair shop for someone that can tint the paint for a perfect match. Done properly should not affect future resale value too much. Most cars that are driven will have had something re-painted. Small pebble chips just add to the "patina".

Man, sorry to hear. The biggest deal is finding the right shop... from there, it should be OK. There are a lot of hacks out there, especially in the paint/body industry.

How big are these 3 paint chips? Can you post pics? Honestly, if they aren't that big I'd leave it as is. Chances are a partial respray is going to be more obvious than a few stone chips in the factory original finish. I would still look to recoup damages from the kids parents though.
