Default OT: RIP Neil Armstrong

We lost a real American hero today. A great pilot with
truly unbelievable career. His aviation accomishments
before landing on the moon would have made him a
legend. He was the real deal and cool under fire. The best
of the best.

+1 A great loss. Oddly, I had just watched a recorded Modern Marvels about Apollo 11 and it rekindled all the excitement of that time. Then I sat down at my computer and saw this news. At least I still have my autographed pic, circa 1970.

He lived for decades in my area. A VERY private individual who seldom spoke about his phenomenal past achievements. RIP.

A great man, a great representative for mankind. A true role model, unlike today's crop of "Hollywood" fame hounds. Always gave credit to all the others that made the landing possible.

Respected that he didn't cash in / sell out.

RIP.

...made the landing possible...
And what an amazing feat that was: hand flying the LEM to the moon's surface after the computer overloaded. There was an article on it in the Smithsonian Air and Space magazine some time ago.

I often get my news from Rennlist; thanks, Mike.

A loss of an American legend for certain.
