Default FS: heater control box 99357208700

i had some work done on the car and the idiots working on it crushed one of my boxes. they did get me a new one but i refused to let them touch my car after it happened. i never got around to putting it on the car and i'm trying to free up some funds, so it's here for sale.

it blew me away how much this thing cost ~$430-450 and it had to come from the factory.

it's brand new. i want to sell it for $400 shipped.

Ah, that's how the heat dump valves looks like, I've never one up close. The rubber flaps opens by air pressure when the rear (aux) fan is running at ignition off. Thanks for posting the pic!
Cheers,
Tore

Wow...good reason to check, or have your mechanic check, the orange hose that holds these on and replace the much cheaper hose if needed and tighten the hose clamps.

For those who don't do their own work, one of these comes off with a 2-filter oil change and may not get re-installed properly every time. Also, simply look under the car and see if one is dangling down further than the other....a sign that they need attention.

WEEKEND BUMP.

i imagine this part doesn't come up very often. i'm open to offers.

this may get on the 'bay after this weekend to be presented to a larger audience. i've seen some used ones in the $1-200 range, so bring me your offers if you need the part.

As an FYI on pricing, I bought a used one from a RLer here not too long ago for $100.

I hate to rain on your parade here, but unless someone really needs one (rare), you may be holding onto it for a long time at anywhere close to $400, since these parts are robust and used ones do the trick for much less money.

I'm curious as to why you're not installing this part, if the mechanic crushed your old one? From what I recall, you cannot use heat in the car without having this part installed...

Agree....just install it (easy) and save yourself having to repeat this process later.

it's actually not too bad. i still have normal operation of the heater. i was mostly pissed that the idiot moving my car caught both boxes on something (lift maybe). one pulled off the boot (the one passenger side that gets removed for filter changes) but the other one that's damaged in the photo was on the boot so tight that it didn't pull off and got kinked.

Ah, so now this makes sense.

The garage dinged your heater box, they didn't "crush" it. You called them out on it, so they bought you a new one. You never got around to installing the new one because the old one works, it's just dented a little. Now you want to pocket $400 for the new one the garage bought you.

I'm not surprised that at $400 you've not sold it. Since it cost you nothing, why don't you post it at a screaming deal and help out a fellow RLer for the holidays?
