Thinking about picking up a new car

I have a 98 e36 m3/4/5 as a dd. Love the 4 door ease and I get decent mpg for all the mods that I have, about 22 mpg and 280 mi/tank. Unfortunately I have to park her outside because the 911 takes precedence....of course. Make sure your patient and get a well maintained one. General maintenance can be very expensive.

Thanks. I cannot deny that rare Porsche colors made an permanent impression on my preferences moving forward. It's called Laguna Seca Blue...perfect for California! Special price for my fellow infected RL friends of only $60K

I love my 06' Audi A6 Avant. It's more than fast enough for a commuter car...fun to drive, very quiet, great when it's slick out, nice sound system, comfortable, 22mpg and at 95,000 miles little has gone wrong. Probably take some looking to find a low mile example, but worth the hunt IMO. If you would like a fast commuter car consider a breathed on 2.8 twin turbo A4. This past Spring a local Marylander posted on here because he was interested in getting a 993TT. He had driven an abused car that a dealer had on offer and was not impressed. He was looking for a decent one to drive a few miles and after much thought, I offered mine. He shows up in a 2.8 Audi A4 wagon that he claimed made something like 450hp. After driving my car, which he loved, I drove his. It accelerated harder than my TT by a substantial margin (my car was with 24K miles and fresh top end). My memory was his car had well north of 100,000 miles on the clock. I don't need a car that fast but my guess is that, including purchase cost and upgrades to engine, clutch and all the other stuff the Audi bunch could fill you in on, you would be well under $45K. The cost is admittedly a guess on my part, and sorry for rattling on, but that was one very impressive stealth mobile. AWD Clark Kent and can blow away every car mentioned so far. Depreciation will be like falling off a cliff so you need to be sure....cuz only time will save you....Chris

If your 993 takes longer to 60 than an M5 to 100, you've got one sick 993

Race Car
The GTI as a daily driver is simply superb. Awesome gas mileage, sporty when you want it etc. Yeah I think the GTI less air-conditioned seats and leather interior has all of the bells and whistles...without the BMW cost.
Man you'd actually take a 318 over a GTI? LOL!

1M is a 1 year only, 720 made for the US market. Holding value very well, used still commanding over sticker price. I needed a back seat for my 4 year old, fast, rare, lighter than v8 M3 and better gas mileage
yes, that's my 1988 e30 M3 the 1M was inspired by

go for a 991 C4S PDK. Best daily driver on the planet in terms of function and smiles.
Never part with your 911 unless it is for another 911.....
If you can afford to keep it, keep it forever.

I know you are going to tell me the M1 can do everything better and I am sure it does, but an M3 E30 to me is like my 993 to the 997 I was considering....I much prefer my 993....as I prefer the older M3 to the newer M1.
No engine shots? (I know what it looks like, but I can easily stand seeing it again).
