Default Seat Dilemma Looking for Some Opinions

So here's the delimma, my C2 originally came with Sport Seats but the previous owner sold them to fund the suspension upgrade, golden rod, walrod bushings, euro turbo bumper, and euro rear bumper. I currently have 8-way power seats but they are not original to the car.

Now my car only has 38K miles and is as close to immaculate as possible, I did buy it to drive it, not daily but I don't intend it to be a garage queen either.

So below are the options as I see them and I am looking for opinions and suggestions:

1) Source stock 993 Sport Seats

2) Source the parts necessary from Suncoast to convert my current seats into Sport seats

3) Souce 997 Turbo or GT3 seats

4) Source 996 Turbo or GT3 seats

I don't plan on doing this until next spring unless some bargin falls in my lap but I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks.

Probably should have included that info. Ok so the seats I have currently are in what I would say pretty good condition, one has had the bolsters recovered, but they are not what I would say a condition level that matches the car. Also I would not exactly call them supportive during "spirited" driving. Ultimately, I would like a combination of great support and reasonable comfort.

Thanks.

996 sport seats are nice and a lot cheaper than the 993 sport seats.

997 gt3 seats are the best upgrade I have made to my car. They hold me in well, and I can sit in them for hours.

This.

With 38K, your car is fairly low miles. I know your car has some mods (desireable ones at that) but stock appearance is a plus. Also, is your car an early 95 or a late 95 to 98? Early 95s had different sport seats.

I know that I'd also have a hard time with the fact that my car came with sport seats originally - only to be replaced by 'regular' seats. Those 373 / 374 numbers on the option stickers would haunt me.

Sounds like the funds from the sale of the original seats were put to good use though.

Sid (600rr) recently converted his regular 993 seats to sport versions - https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...l-cab-top.html

There are other options as well; such as the Recaro A8, Pole Positions or Euro GT3 seats. I currently have the GT3 seats in my car and have been amazed by how comfortable they are - to the point where I also have a set of 993 hardbacks that I had planned on installing immediately after purchasing the car.... Still driving with the GT3 seats...

Personally I'm not a fan of the 996/997 sport seats in the 993 - proportionally they just don't look right.

Post some pictures of the car & interior.

Thanks. Saw that thread which prompted option number 2 in my original post. And yes the option codes on the sticker and not having the seats is bothering me a bit.

I am in the process of a move right now from Raleigh, NC to Dallas, TX and don't have access to my photos but below is the post I created when I purchased the car.

IMHO if not the 997 GT3 seats and you need seats that tilt then I would go for Sportster CS seats.

HB sport seats are IMHO definitely not great " spirited driving " seats BUT 95 SB sport seats sure are !

Cheers Guy

Patrick, once I get my car down here (driving it back after Thanksgiving) I would love to see your car with the 997 GT3 seats in it. Thinking this is a very realistic option but would like to see them in a car.

Ok. So I took a look at the Recaro Sportster CS on their site, really nice seats and a worthy competitor for the the 997 GT3 seats.

So let's talk pricing:

1) New Recaro Sportster CS are about $1400.00 +/- depending upon insert, so a pair would be roughly $3000.00 all in.

2) 997 GT3 seats seem to be running about 1200-1500 per seat depending upon condition and seller preference. So again could have a pair all in for $3000.00 or so.

3) Conversion of my existing seats to 993 Hardback Sport seats would run about $3000.00 plus or minus a few hundred for paint and installation.

4) 993 Hardback sport seats are going for what these days?

So if I go with any of the above except conversion of my existing seats I can offset the cost a bit by selling my existing seats, the question is for how much?

This just gets more and more confusing as I go. Good thing it will be spring before I make a call. Keep the opinions coming. Thanks.

Let's do it! Let me know when you are ready and I will give you the ride of your life! JK.

I found my seats for closer to $2k locally. Got lucky with another RL'er.

Sport seats are going for closer to $4-5k

Your seats are probably worth $600-800.

Thanks! I'll shoot you a PM when I get back from NC and we can set something up. Have a nice holiday.
