I have PP's in leather and love them. They are also period correct and look more appropriate for the car (subjective).

They aren't for everyone though as ingress/egress is trickier with the bolsters. Doesn't bother me a bit. I really like them and moreover the weight savings over my stock power units was > 50.lbs.

I had both in my 993. Both are tight, but I found the Pole Positions easier to get OUT of (sold the GT3's for the Poles). Also, you can get 'em with Alcantara center sections. Finally, I agree with Flat-6 on period correctness. They just look better in the car.

I have a set of leather / suede pole positions in my car. Have done a few 4+ hour trips in the car and they are great. Very comfortable seats.

I can't speak for the PP's as I've never owned a set, though I do agree that they are the more period correct for the car. That said, my 993 came with a set of the 996 Euro GT3 seats installed (original seats included); I was convinced that I'd remove them and install either the 993HB or Recaro A8 sets that I have, but I still have them in the car after 7 months.... They are extremely comfortable, supportive and secure - not the easiest to get into though (being 6'5",anyway).

A lot of it depends on your size. If you're waist 38 and larger you won't fit in the PPs. I agree with the previous posters that the PPs look period correct in our cars and are very supportive. I had a set in my first 964 and the RSA.

The GT3 seats are the same as the Recaro Profi SPG and are slightly wider and accommodating for a larger driver. So again, if you're looking for period correct seats you may want to look at those as well.

I read stock seats weight in at 67 lbs each. The reclining backs don't seem so heavy so I am thinking that most of the weight is in the bottom.

I have GT3 seats and they are currently set up so that they can be moved forward enough for people (i.e. wife) to get in the back...it's not an elegant entry/exit but access is still possible. At one point, Sparco had a universal tilt kit for fixed back seats that would let you unfasten a braket in the back, and the entire seat would tilt forward.

Do you guys know which ones are lighter (PPs or GT3s)?
I am currently considering replacing my stock seats as well and would like to get the lightest alternative.

Thanks.

From Recaro catalog, the PP weighs about 15.4lbs. Another model, the SPG, weighs about 14.3lbs.
