Default Oil pressure and Varioram Questions

1. Minutes after start up and fully warmed up, I'm used to seeing oil pressure at idle around 1.5-2 bar. Is it normal to idle at 3 bar? Oil level near top of the twist.

2. I've noticed some intake manifold have the Varioram script and some don't? Referring to 96-98 models. Any clue?

TIA

Nam

I used to run 15W-50 and once warmed up I saw about 2 bar on pressure. I think 2-3 bar is normal.

The VarioRam script was missing from the early builds. My 97 C4S was built in July of 96 and it was missing. But I think builds by early 97 started to appear with them.

Oil pressure sounds normal.

I think the Varioram script is more random than just early late. There was a thread a few months ago discussing it. My conclusion was that there were two suppliers.

Start-up of a cold engine (these numbers at idle), I get 5 bar. A couple of minutes later, 4 bar.

Engine warmed up (at idle), 2 bar. While cruising, 5 bar.

Same here and my oil level gauge indicates full. No difference in oil consumption (which is so minimal over thousands of kilometers) as so often has been related; at least not in my case.

Here is a video that a 993er posted on YouTube. Note the oil level gauge and pressures.

just my guess on the script vs no script, large bin next to the assembly line, two manufacturers parts in the bin, just depends which specific piece the assembler grabbed for your motor. there is no correlation by build date, so there was no change over.

Ah...thanks gent for the feedbacks. I initially thought the no-script ones were aftermarket.
