Car is likely a turbo with a retrofitted Targa top which I understand is not to difficult to do. Certainly Porsche never made one in widebody or Turbo.

I think the targa roof on the 993 is actually a complete piece on top of a cab. I may be wrong, though.

Close - the body of a Targa is a cab body with some modifications - for instance the attachment points of the Targa top to the body at the door pillars required additional supports to be welded to the body. The roof is a separate unit made by Webasto for Porsche, and its bolted/glued/sealed to the body. ( I have taken one off the car so I have seen it).

Cheers,

Mike

There's some big issues either converting a targa to a wide body turbo OR making a turbo out of a targa which, (like Mike says) is like converting a coupe to a cab. Then you have underbody reenforcement issues too, no?

Probably something that Colin at Ninemeister could give us the specifics about what's needed.

There was a very nice black widebody cab parked outside my office on Friday. Would that be the same car, Steven?

Those wheels are OEM painted RUF wheels, they call it "Bright Silver".

I would assume it was originally a mild optioned Targa, fitted with a TT engine, sport seats and also widebody + "S" body mods. Nobody in their right mind would take a TT and "Targa" it LOL. Pretty cool car.

No that's Chris's car. He is friends with the guy that has the widebody targa. I actually talked to Chris about that targa and it was bought at Barrett Jackson as a turbo converted targa. It was then taken to Continental Autobody here in Calgary and the widebody conversion was completed!

The Targa is a RUF conversion, so pretty rare.
