Default For those driving in San Francisco...

...be aware of a particularly uncharismatic police officer, armed with a radar gun, that has taken to hanging out on Sansome Street during the evening commute home. He sits on the northbound downhill stretch from Broadway towards the Embarcadero, between Vallejo and Green. I saw him pull guy in a 997 a couple of weeks ago, then totally forgot about him and he got me yesterday afternoon.... doing 37mph... I was speeding, so I have no real defence, but bugger... seems a wasteful way to rack up a point on the license when I wasn't even trying to drive fast...

The rest of my drive home at least got a little better. Despite the tail-back on the 101 above Sausalito, I spotted the below C2S, in what looks like Steel Grey? Anyone know the official colour description? Looked really nice. Oh, and if the owner happens to be an RLer and is interested in selling, please could I be first in line?!!! Has hardbacks and big reds too... mmm

nah...25, though I actually thought it was a 30 zone and most traffic drives at 35... I was just first away from the light so took one for the team I guess!

hmmm... interesting... how much does he cost? what's the ROI versus any increase I'd see in insurance premium (am a Brit with a clean license to date so have no idea the impact of a solitary US point! - it's would have been 3 points back in Blighty!)

Sorry to here about the ticket.

The color appears to be Slate Grey. I must say it is the best color on these cars - but that is one man's opinion.

to eval roi....
1. ask insurance agent what your premium would go to 'if' you had a point
2. believe point stays on for three years so multiply amount by 3
3. call john for current rate
4. remember if ticket dismissed...you will also get refund of your bail amount

Default Traffic School

Did you consider traffic school?
You pay the fine, plus another $20 or so and take an online traffic school and point is averted.

red95993:

Correct me if I'm wrong but in CA, the violation is still on your record but insurance doesn't see it. If you get a second citation, insurance sees both and you get nailed. This, to eliminate those who think they can eventually get a second ticket within 18 months and it only shows up as one........

"One conviction in any 18-month period will be held confidential and not show on your driving record if you complete a traffic violator school program." Quote from San Mateo County Traffic Court.

Note the word "confidential" and not "erased"!
