OT: Lodging at Watkins Glen for DE?
Search function doesn't work so I apologize if this has been asked before.
I'm going to my first DE at Watkins Glen on Aug 1-3. The website has a listing of numerous places but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
I just want a roof over my head and a safe place to leave the car overnight. Nothing fancy.
I looked at hotels.com and travelocity.com but the nearest decent priced place seems to be about 15 miles away from the track.
TIA.

Was just there over July 4th weekend for a DE. Stayed at The Glen Motor Inn (pretty close with gas station on the way to the track). Nice enough, staff was great and priced reasonably. Don't have any contact info handy (sorry), but you should be able to find it if you do a search. (Try the DE board).
Have fun, nad be careful of turn 1...

Thanks guys.
Got my lodging at the Seneca Clipper Inn (3miles away from the track). The owner was extremely nice and gave me an extra discount since I have to change rooms on the third night.
Can't make any recommendations now since I haven't seen the place but if it's a decent place, I will definitely recommend it later to any Rennlisters.

i recently stayed at the Falls motel. Everything was fine, owner was nice, had cable tv, no charm, but room was clean and only 2-3 miles from track and town. Rates were approx $95/night.
I would stay here again. (i have no affliation, etc.)

Rezal,
I can recommend the Seneca Lodge too, it ain't nuthin fancy, but I've stayed there three times with no problems. The restaurant and bar are good (curious about all the $2 bills and $1 coins) and within stumbling distance of the rooms. You can take the back roads to the track from there, avoiding any traffic lights.
Cheers,

I've stayed at the Glen Motor Inn several times. It is nice for the kids (good pool), lot of parking for trailers and tow vehicles, and it has a beautiful view right on the lake. There is a restaurant. A few extra minutes of travel, but if you need gas, ice, or anything you would need to go through town anyway.

I stay at the Seneca Lodge. It is pretty old, and the rooms are certainly not fancy. Try to get in the motel rather than a cabin, as the latter does not have AC. The place is very strong on nostalgia, especially at the bar. I was there just a few days ago. They are very friendly. I've heard the Glen Motor Inn is a little nicer. Great track.
