Best motor oil for 993?

Sorry for interrupting the thread with an actual answer. I'll skip all the jabs, etc. and say that there is no "right" answer to which oil is "best". Personally...I've been using Mobil 1 15/50 for over 14 years with no issues. There are probably 20 different oils that would work just fine in your car. It's a matter of personal preference as to which you decide to use. Until I see a convincing argument to change...I'll continue using Mobil 1.
If I recall Mobil 1 5W-30 was the factory fill for my TT in 1996 but the 5W-30 today is not the same as it was then. Lower zinc and phosphorus levels for one thing.
I've used Mobil 1 15W-50 for the last few years based on recommendations from respected members on this board. I also just switched to VTwin 20W-50 for the same reasons.
I use Mobil 1 because it gets recommended at least as often as anything else on here, it's readily available everywhere, and I don't want to have to change the Mobil 1 sticker on my intercooler

Mobil 1 15-50 for me, but I don't think you can go wrong with a lot of the recommended oils that Porsche approves..

i'll jump...a lot of people run M1,...i run redline 15W50 and motul has been endorsed by a well respected air cooled authority.

Joe Gibbs or Motul.
Mobil 1 has changed it's formula to enhance the longevity of the catylitic converter. Hence it is no longer a good oil for the 993.
Eg: valve train wear is one example.
I'd rather replace a cat than a valve train.

Thank you to those who helped me, it was an honest request for assistance.
FYI, before I posted the question, I did a search and got 483 threads... I was pawing through them one at a time... I was just looking for the latest thinking on it, I didn't know it would lead to such drama...

I hear you, there are a lot of threads and the search function is not the most intuitive, at least for me. I seem to get better results using google and adding the words rennlist and 993 to what other search words I imagine will work. If you do use the RL search, it works better to use the "search this forum" box rather than the general "search" box at the top. Within the search this forum you can click advanced and limit the search to a certain date range, for example, the last year so you aren't getting posts from oil suggestions from 5 years ago etc... Just don't ask about the broken black thingy behind the fan and you'll be golden.
I think Timothymoffats suggestion is a good one for the 'modulators' to consider. With a poll for oil type would be even better..

It is Turkey time . . .
No drama, just a bit of good ribbing from the peanut gallery, hang in there and stay with the forum. It will get better. Just do not ask about under trays.
