Default Another TPC Supercharger Install project thread :)

So, I picked up a used 'Gen 3' TPC SC kit w/ intercooler from a fellow RL'er and I decided today to start on it as well as some basic maintenance stuff and a full Fabspeed RSR header/exhaust system. I may eliminate the SAI system too. Anyone have any input on keeping the cruise control? Hoping to work on it casually thru the next few weeks and have it ready to roll before Hershey in mid April. Just figured I'd try to take some pics and share along the way.

Got my Atlas lift up and running

might replace it... definitely removing it for now...

Already broke something, LOL... WEVO Black SS mounts are en route.

p.s., Background props goes to Cosmos99 and his white 964 He's also doing a full Fabspeed RSR header/exhaust and is up on jackstands awaiting his new wheels.

What's wrong with your present wheels?

My present wheels? Nothing. I love them. I do want a set of some Fifteen52 wheels that have yet to be debuted yet... keep an eye out for a new movie/video with Magnus Walker for some 2pc Urban Outlaw model wheels... I want the 3pc version

I think you may have misread my post. I said my buddy Ed (Cosmos99) is waiting for HIS new wheels. That is his 964 in the background of my pics.

That is a very fun project. But, there is no way you can keep the cruise control. The TPC Manifold and SC goes right on that spot.

Ahhh, got it. It was about 1 am so I have an excuse. Don't know what my excuse is the rest of the time. Take care. Keep us posted.
P.S. You got it right about emissions. They'll punish all of the people who care and give exemptions to those who don't. All the while it's not doing a bit of difference to reduce emissions. I got railed by a member when I suggested gutting the cats. "We all need to do our share to reduce greenhouse gases". We are by how little we drive and how efficient our cars are. But trucking goes un-checked by drivers from other countries (Mexico), so we are fair and help their economy????
Sorry, forgot this was your TPC thread. I'll stop..... I think

Good luck! You chose the best thing to break.

Have to comment that your car looks perfect on the Oz Techart/Mitos. Love them. I rebuilt some 17x9 OZ racing Pegasus to 17x10 a few months ago and sold them to an FD rx7 owner.

It is the cheapy Rennspeed one from eBay with about $300 in reparative labor to make it acceptable, LOL. I was considering the Gary Stratton unit but I knew I was going to have to trim the underside for the supercharger nose and pulley so I just opted for the all fiberglass one. It's a vanity wing as far as I'm concerned... No need to have a metal structure.

Hmmph... I'll put a little effort into modifying the linkage rod to work. If not, no biggie. I'm stubborn so I like to fail for myself, LOL. I'm running 18x11's and 285/30's on a the rear of my lowered NB with unmoddified fender lips when most everyone told me I couldnt I'll accept your comment as a challenge, .

Tree hugging hippie crap... LOL. I'm kidding. My secondary air system does SO LITTLE in any effort to reducing emissions via my use of my 911. I recycle. I bring my own bags to Whole Foods... sometimes, lol. I do my part. I also drive my fiance's 2004 Expedition that gets 11.4mpg on a good day in the city. But... I let her drive my 2010 VW CC 2.0T because she drives substantially more miles than I do, so... collectively we probably get 20mpg LOL. I drive my 911 3000-4000 miles a year... tops. In 2 years, I'm gonna exploit the loophole anyway

Yeah Evan! Ed and I drove up the other day and picked them both up (mine for the 993 and Ed's for the 964) from Schane.

So do you need to rework the computer to get this puppy to run right or is it plug and play with the Bosch system intact?

The Unichip Q and T modules piggyback the stock DME and do a few things, namely, control 2 additional injectors in boost and I believe retard some ignition timing (among other things). It's like 8 wires to tap into the harness at the DME... BUT... if Juha G's buddy is gonna provide me with his tunable plug-n-play ECU with MAP sensor, I can eliminate the Unichip stuff and just go with larger injectors and custom map everything on a dyno. I'm gonna get it up and rolling with the Unichip stuff first. It's been used happily by many TPC customers for many years.

Rich, I am always inspired by your updates. Nicely done. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the SC, post install. You rig is shaping up nicely. For anyone interested in getting a duck tail, get an MA Shaw or Getty unit and save yourself the hassle of having to modify the unit.

BTW, re: removing the SAI, it is all about overall carbon footprint. Everyone can make an impact other than through what they drive. I don't feel one bit of guilt driving my 993 knowing that just one domestic trip by airplane is the equivalent of 1-2 months of carbon emissions of driving a car. So realistically, someone driving a Prius could ostensibly have a bigger carbon footprint if they travel by air frequently for work/pleasure. In other words, being environmentally friendly is not just about what you drive, but more about how you live. OK, off the soapbox.

Thanks sir! >> He's right... every wing will require some level of work but those other brands most likely require MUCH less than mine did to get it to look like a decent body panel.
