Taxes are part of the problem, but here in the US, the big one is corruption.
Wow, Goofball, you're not watching enough Fox news.

^^^^ Yeah, part of the problem is I've actually lived outside the US and experienced first-hand how "awful" these terrible socialist countries that actually use their monies to benefit their citizens instead of corporate interests are

I made enough money to buy a few Porsches when I lived in socialist countries

So did all of the many Porsche owners here on the 993 board from Canada; another thriving socialist country

My comment was not intended to be personal, but rather general. There are exceptions in every rule, and I have zero interest turning this into political and even less so into personal discussion on this forum. Over a beer in a bar?...sure!

No worries. No argument intended here, just clarification

I just wanted to illustrate the point that many misconceptions and myths about socialism and socialist countries aren't always true, that's all

Socialism in Denmark, Sweden and Norway sure benefited their speed skaters and cross country skiers in the Olympics. U.S. capitalism...not so much.

ca993twin & Vincer77:

Thank you for your concern and your generous offers. I found the 356 in my collection but would like to keep it and restore it some day. However, I am still searching for the '88……… It was running when I last had it registered but not sure where I parked it.

My apologies for posting this in a technical forum . . . but

How is Social Security socialist?

I've put far more money into it than I'll ever get back.

To me it seems to be one of the biggest Ponzi schemes going.

Anyone who thinks bureaucrats are wasting time writing letters offering to buy our old cars has obviously never heard of computers. Although the letters seem pretty stupid when they make it to us, they've actually been quite effective in getting old clunkers off the road. Also, if you think we have too many air pollution regs you should visit Beijing - that's what LA would look like today without CARB.

Pretty soon, they're going to outlaw "old farts" (can I say that here?) in CA because they pollute!
